About The Position

Supervises the delivery of nursing services. Provides direct supervision of the nursing staff. Ensures that the medical needs of the clients are met.

Requirements

  • Requires Registered Nursing License for the State of Kansas.
  • First Aid/CPR.
  • Mandt.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must pass a physical examination, including drug screen and TB Skin Test.
  • Must pass an MVR, KBI and Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Clearance check.
  • FBI Fingerprint Check
  • Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Lifting requirements of 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Prefer 2 years’ experience working with adolescents of psychiatric population.
  • Prefer supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and ensure the quality of the nursing care.
  • Provides direct supervision of nursing staff
  • Participates in the Performance Improvement techniques and is a member of the Performance Improvement team.
  • Serves on the Clinical Leadership Team (CSLT).
  • Member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team.
  • Ensures distribution of information regarding medications and health concern of the clients.
  • Ensures nursing staff demonstrate competency before they are allowed to practice certain aspects of care i.e. (veni-puncture and nursing assessments).
  • Provides monthly infection control training to staff.
  • Dispenses medications as scheduled, documents, and observes effects.
  • Obtains lab specimens as scheduled.
  • Checks for needed monthly medication renewals.
  • Provides immunizations as needed for clients.
  • Provides on-going assessment for the wellness of each client.
  • Records heights and weights monthly or as needed.
  • Ensures clients are taught about any needs they have related to allergies, hygiene, and health.
  • Ensures that client health status is documented weekly.
  • Coordinates services with outside facilities and health care providers.
  • Oversights the scheduling of appointments with outside facilities and/or health care providers.
  • Oversights the necessary follow up medical aftercare and contact with parents regarding medications and health concerns.
  • Oversights and ensures the accuracy of medical files for each client. Audits medical files weekly and documents the audit.
  • Completes Utilization Review duties.
  • Involved in the active program plan to minimize restraint/seclusion.
  • Required to be on-call.
  • Conducts the monthly infection control meeting.
  • Implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives as required. Follows and adheres to all pertinent Saint Francis Ministries Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), rules, personnel policies, and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state and local rules, statutes, regulations, and all contractual terms.
  • Reports unusual incidents through appropriate Risk Management, clinical and safety channels.
  • Ensures clients’ rights are protected.
  • Is knowledgeable of and follows all safety procedures.
