About The Position

Medical/Nursing oversight in SPDD programs and Community Residence

Requirements

  • RN, BSN Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New York.
  • Minimum 5 years previous supervisory experience in a nursing facility.

Nice To Haves

  • 10 Years Experience with people with developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of RN personnel.
  • Provide support and guidance as needed.
  • Assure that RN’s are communicating their weekly schedules.
  • Ensure that each person supported has in place a current nursing care plan.
  • Ensure that all programs are in conformance with applicable federal, state and agency regulations and guidelines.
  • Assist with the creation of protocols as needed.
  • Be aware of information or new material from OPWDD and OMH and disseminate to RNs.
  • Review nursing notes and documentation monthly.
  • Meet with RNs on a regular basis for group supervision.
  • Attend appropriate training opportunities as they relate to medical aspects.
  • Review monthly pharmacy bills for accuracy.
  • Review monthly pharmacy consultation remarks.
  • Follow up with RNs as needed.
  • Make regular visitations to the program sites for the purpose of monitoring the professional follow up by RNs to doctor recommendations.
  • Facilitate and foster professional relationships with community providers.
  • Teach or arrange for required training including AMAP, CPR/First Aid, and Universal precautions.
  • Consult with the Abbott House medical director as needed.
  • Keep the medical director informed of high profile medical issues as they arise.
  • As needed assist with coverage of a residence.
  • Rotate on-call.
  • Keep Vice President informed of medical/nursing issues and concerns.
  • Meet weekly for support.
  • Any other related duties as needed.
