About The Position

The Director of Nursing is a leadership role responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of nursing care within our Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). This position requires a highly skilled and experienced nurse leader with strong organizational, managerial, and clinical skills to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to residents.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Alabama.
  • Experience in nursing leadership roles, with significant experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
  • Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and leading interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with customers, personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and understandably write the English language.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with customers, residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this company, which include a medical and physical examination if the position requires.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Nursing Administration or Gerontological Nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical leadership and oversight to nursing staff, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices and regulatory standards. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for residents.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting professional development and continuous learning.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing nursing care in our SNF. Implement quality assurance and improvement initiatives to enhance resident outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Clinical Documentation: Oversee accurate and timely completion of clinical documentation, including resident assessments, care plans, and progress notes. Conduct regular audits to ensure documentation meets regulatory standards.
  • Patient and Family Relations: Establish and maintain effective communication with residents, families, and caregivers. Address and resolve concerns or issues related to patient care in a timely and compassionate manner.
  • Budgetary Oversight: Collaborate with the finance department to develop and manage the nursing department budget. Monitor expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Education and Training: Develop and implement ongoing education and training programs for nursing staff to enhance clinical skills and knowledge. Stay abreast of industry best practices and incorporate new trends into nursing practice.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans for nursing services. Ensure nursing staff is trained and prepared for various emergency scenarios.
