Job Summary: The purpose of the Director of Nursing position is to provide administrative and clinical leadership for the Healthcare Center. Provides nursing care to the residents in the Healthcare Center through assessment, planning implementations and reevaluation of resident needs. Carries out and interpret policies, procedures, local, state, and federal regulations in the Healthcare Center.

Requirements

  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse License in Illinois
  • Possess a B.S.N. (degree) from an accredited school of Nursing,
  • Have 3-5 years progressively responsible management experience in Nursing Service/Health Service
  • Have worked with a geriatric population
  • Basic Life Support (CPR)
  • Ability to manager skilled care staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to skilled nursing care.
  • Infectious control knowledge in a continuum care facility.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, families, and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Providing overall leadership for the clinical staff
  • Providing for the planning, implementation, direction, supervision, and evaluation of nursing
  • Functioning as a member of the key management team at Plymouth Place.
  • Supporting the vision and mission of Plymouth Place through clinical and fiscal accountability.
  • Managing Medicare insurance weekly updates.
  • Developing and communicating to all staff a customer-oriented mission which includes high quality, cost-effective care.
  • Developing, communicating, and interpreting policies and procedures to serve as guidelines for practice.
  • Role-modeling excellence in clinical practice, interpersonal and communication skills, problem-solving, and interfacing with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Participating in the development of and adherence to the budget for the Healthcare Center.
  • Work with the scheduler for scheduling of personnel, use of scheduled and incremental overtime and use of contract services.
  • Maintaining control over decisions regarding selection, purchase, use, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Participating in day-to-day clinical decisions, including screening for potential residents for admission.
  • Evaluating resident response to treatment plan, including medications and recommending alterations in the plan of care as needed.
  • Participating in the Interdisciplinary Team conferences as necessary.
  • Assuring that resident rights are respected,
  • Communicating directly and in a timely fashion with attending physicians, the Medical Director, and the Consultant Pharmacist.
  • Directing and supporting the Restorative philosophy.
  • Educating staff in knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
  • Maintaining written documentation/manuals to demonstrate compliance.
  • Must addresses safety issues within the Healthcare Center and throughout the facility.
  • Participates as a Safety Committee member.
  • Developing, communicating, and assuring compliance with current, effective departmental safety policies and procedures.
  • Handling injured worker issues and documentation.
  • Develops and implements procedures for health screening for new employees.
  • Works closely with the Infection Prevention Nurse to manage the control and surveillance of infection and potential infection-related issues throughout Plymouth Place.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all Plymouth Place policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
  • Attends in-service and education programs.
