The College of Health Sciences at Glenville State University is seeking qualified candidates for Director of Nursing, a tenure-track position with faculty rank commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Dean of Health Sciences and Provost of Academic Affairs to develop an accredited associate degree nursing program. The university recently completed 8500 square feet of space dedicated for nursing education which includes four offices, two classrooms, and two clinical laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art high-fidelity manikins. The development of an RN to BSN program will be investigated after the ASN program has been established. The Director will assume responsibility for the overall implementation of the nursing program and will be required to teach a percentage of nursing coursework based on their area of expertise and clinical experiences. The Director will report directly to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences. Individuals with interest or expertise in curriculum innovation and the nursing accreditation process, as well as scholarly excellence in their specialty are encouraged to apply.

  • Oversee the development and evaluation of nursing program policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain relationships with a sufficient number and type of facilities to support clinical placements.
  • Oversee that the associate degree nursing program receives and maintains approval by the West Virginia Board of Nursing.
  • Oversee that the associate degree nursing program receives and maintains national accreditation.
  • Collaborate with departmental colleagues on curriculum development, program assessment, and other academic initiatives.
  • Teach nursing courses based on expertise and departmental needs.
  • Participate in department meetings, serve on committees, and contribute to the overall growth and advancement of the college.
  • Support the development and implementation of grants and other externally funded projects.
  • Contribute to student growth and development through academic advising and assistance.
  • Support student recruitment and retention initiatives.
  • Cultivate and maintain teaching and professional excellence.
  • An earned DNP or PhD in Nursing Education from an accredited institution.
  • Unencumbered Licensure and eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in WV (must obtain licensure before hire).
  • Minimum of two years of academic administrative experience and/or collegiate teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience with nursing program accreditation process.
  • NLN CNE certification.
