About The Position

The Director of Nursing Services is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of nursing activities across all West Cancer Center sites. This role oversees department workflows, manages human and financial resources, ensures adherence to quality standards, and drives process improvement initiatives that support exceptional oncology patient care. Working under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Nursing Services collaborates across departments to promote operational efficiency, clinical excellence, and a supportive work environment for nursing staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • At least four (4) years of oncology outpatient experience.
  • Three (3) years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Current RN license to practice in the state of employment or compact license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association .
  • OCN certification.
  • Excellent organizational, follow-up, and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze situations and develop timely, effective solutions.
  • Ability to establish new processes and lead change.
  • Proficiency in ONCO, word processing, and email applications.
  • Strong oncology knowledge and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated customer service excellence, sensitivity, and compassion.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Business Administration, or a healthcare-related field.
  • Prior management experience in nursing.
  • Additional specialty or leadership certifications.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional initiatives or multi-site operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily workflows, operations, and functions of the nursing department.
  • Plan, organize, and evaluate activities to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care.
  • Develop and manage capital and operational budgets; authorize expenditures and monitor financial performance.
  • Direct and mentor nursing staff, clarify work expectations, and support performance management and goal setting.
  • Develop short- and long-term business plans, anticipating challenges and devising strategic solutions.
  • Establish and implement processes for orientation, training, and ongoing staff competency assessment.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless operations and quality patient care.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain performance standards, including quality assessment and improvement programs.
  • Demonstrate and promote professional practice and leadership within the nursing care team.
  • Perform clinical nurse navigator functions as needed, within scope of practice.
