MedStar Washington Hospital Center - one of the region's largest and most respected academic medical centers - is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Director of Nursing to lead our Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) team. As a key member of our Nursing Leadership team, you'll lead one of the most advanced cardiovascular surgical programs in the country. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing or healthcare-related field preferred.
- CVOR nursing experience is required.
- Previous nursing leadership or management experience is strongly preferred.
- Active RN licensure in the District of Columbia.
- Specialty certification in nursing or administration required within 2 years of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 operational and clinical leadership for the CVOR, overseeing nursing practice, patient care quality, staffing, and budget management.
- Foster a collaborative environment that supports innovation, professional development, and shared governance.
- Ensure excellence in surgical care delivery while driving performance improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a strategic partner to physician leaders, perioperative services, and hospital administration.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing nursing team committed to clinical excellence and patient-centered care.
