Gateway Post Acute is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department in delivering exceptional resident-centered care. The Director of Nursing is a Registered Nurse responsible for the overall management, supervision, and direction of all nursing services. Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Current, active, and unencumbered RN license in the State of California.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of nursing management experience preferred.
  • Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) experience required.
  • Proven success with regulatory compliance and survey management.
  • Strong clinical leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Deep knowledge of SNF regulations and standards of care.
  • Budget management and operational oversight experience.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and implement compliance strategies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and PointClickCare (PCC).
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility regularly.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Prolonged computer use and frequent communication with staff and physicians.
  • May require travel by automobile or airline as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the entire nursing department and staffing operations.
  • Ensure the highest standards of resident safety, dignity, and quality care.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain nursing policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate MDS processes and comprehensive care planning.
  • Participate in QA, Utilization Review, and interdisciplinary care conferences.
  • Remain current on regulatory changes and ensure facility compliance.
  • Lead all state surveys and oversee plans of correction and follow-up.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and mentor nursing staff.
  • Supervise the ADON and all nursing personnel directly or indirectly.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and manage corrective action when necessary.
  • Develop and conduct clinical in-services and ongoing education programs.
  • Serve as liaison between physicians, pharmacy services, families, and facility leadership.
  • Coordinate pharmacy services and oversee proper medication management.
  • Work closely with all departments to ensure cohesive, high-quality resident care.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and resident information.
  • Manage departmental budgeting and reporting.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels based on acuity and census.
  • Provide direct resident care as needed to support the team and maintain standards.
