About The Position

The Director of Nursing (DON) at Portsmouth Health and Rehab is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Nursing Services department. The role aims to ensure the highest quality of resident care in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company standards. The DON will work closely with the Executive Director and lead a team of nursing professionals to deliver exceptional care to residents.

Requirements

• Valid RN license in the state of Virginia.
• Minimum of one year of Director of Nursing experience or two years of Assistant Director of Nursing experience in long-term care.
• Management experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification and ability to maintain it during employment.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Director of Nursing (CDON-NADONA) in long-term care or willingness to obtain certification within the first year.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Nursing Services department.
• Ensure the highest degree of quality resident care in accordance with laws, regulations, and company standards.
• Supervise nursing staff and manage departmental operations.
• Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to facility functions.
• Oversee accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
