About The Position
The Laurels of Athens is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing department. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all nursing operations within the facility. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing care and services to our residents. You will oversee the nursing staff, which includes registered nurses, licensed vocational/practical nurses, and STNA/CNAs, ensuring that all care provided meets the highest standards of excellence. As the Director of Nursing, you will play a crucial role in the overall direction and evaluation of nursing care. This includes scheduling and performing resident rounds to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of care provided. You will also be responsible for ensuring proper charting and documentation of care, medications, and treatments. Your leadership will be essential in recommending staffing levels and participating in the budget process, maintaining nursing supply and staffing budgets effectively. In addition to your managerial responsibilities, you will maintain current knowledge of applicable managed care, Medicare, and state Medicaid regulations, ensuring compliance and optimal reimbursement systems. You will also participate in the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement program, utilizing quality assurance data to make necessary improvements to nursing processes and care delivery.
