About The Position

Director of Nursing (DON) – Telecare Inpatient Acute Program #259 Fully On-Site Role | No Remote or Hybrid Options Includes Participation in Administrator-On-Call (AOC) Rotation Telecare’s Inpatient Acute Program #259 is seeking a mission-driven Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing services and champion clinical excellence in a fast-paced inpatient environment. This role requires a strong leadership presence and is 100% in-person with no remote or hybrid flexibility due to clinical and operational needs. This position also participates in the Administrator-On-Call (AOC) rotation, sharing after-hours leadership duties with other program leaders. During scheduled rotations, the DON must remain reachable, responsive, and aligned with operational protocols. POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Nursing oversees nursing operations, staffing, regulatory compliance, quality initiatives, and clinical excellence. The DON works closely with interdisciplinary leaders to ensure safe, therapeutic, and effective care for all members served. This role requires a consistent on-site presence and participation in a structured Administrator-On-Call rotation, including timely response to calls, emails, and urgent program needs.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing AND Four (4) years of nursing experience (including two years psychiatric and two years supervisory ) OR Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field + two years of psychiatric experience + one year supervisory experience
  • At least one year of nursing supervision within the last five years
  • Current RN licensure in the state of operation
  • CPR, BLS (AHA), and CPI (hands-on) certification by start date
  • Must meet all post-offer requirements (physical exam, TB testing, background checks, etc.)
  • If applicable: valid driver’s license, clean MVR, and auto insurance
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High-level critical thinking and decision-making
  • Ability to lead, develop, and motivate nursing staff
  • Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic inpatient environment
  • Proficiency in data analysis, action planning, and process improvement
  • Ability to prepare and deliver trainings and presentations

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the Administrator-On-Call (AOC) rotation with other leaders
  • Lead, organize, and manage all nursing services
  • Establish goals, policies, procedures, and standards for nursing care
  • Oversee staffing, hiring, coaching, performance management, and professional development
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary departments on quality, safety, and operational initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations
  • Oversee medication management and infection control standards
  • Manage departmental budgets and ensure cost-effective resource use
  • Maintain a robust QA/QI program focused on continuous improvement
  • Serve on committees related to safety, nursing practice, and clinical operations
  • Assist with member restraint and crisis intervention as required in inpatient settings
  • Support other Telecare facilities as needed, including occasional travel
