About The Position

Provides leadership and managerial responsibility for one or more academic program(s), ensuring alignment with the university mission. Directs administrative oversight and academic curriculum development, ensuring optimal integration of student and faculty activities. Ensures resource allocation supports the program's primary objectives. Manages a team of professionals who support the program(s). The Director has oversight over nursing programs including compliance with standards, personnel and oversight of curriculum and program policies. The Director works with internal and external constituents to ensure the delivery of quality nursing programs. Serves as the principal liaison between the program, University leadership, and outside entities. Evaluates operations and outcomes to ensure alignment with organizational goals. May provide guidance to faculty regarding funding, staffing, and space implications. Formulates program strategies and goals, directs long-term planning, develops policies and procedures, and establishes and maintains new and emerging program materials. Collaborates with faculty members to develop student academic programs and agendas, directs implementation, and creates curricular structure including operational and logistical arrangements. Manages student academic program(s). Develops the unit budget and approves unit expenditures.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in nursing, or earned doctorate in a related field and an master of science in nursing, from an accredited institution
  • Current, active unencumbered registered nurse license or privilege to practice in Wisconsin
  • Knowledge of learning principles for adult education, including nursing curriculum development, administration and evaluation
  • Current knowledge of nursing practice
  • At least two (2) years’ experience as an instructor in a nursing education program within the last five (5) years, or one year experience as an instructor in a nursing education program within the last five (5) years and hold a graduate degree which included education preparation

  • Serves as the principal liaison between the program, University leadership, and outside entities
  • Evaluates operations and outcomes to ensure alignment with organizational goals
  • May provide guidance to faculty regarding funding, staffing, and space implications
  • Formulates program strategies and goals, directs long-term planning, develops policies and procedures, and establishes and maintains new and emerging program materials
  • Teaching, scholarship, and service as needed to support the unit; maximum 1-1 teaching load
  • Collaborates with faculty members to develop student academic programs and agendas, directs implementation, and creates curricular structure including operational and logistical arrangements
  • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • Manages student academic program(s)
  • Friend raising and fund raising in collaboration with University Advancement officers
  • Develops the unit budget and approves unit expenditures
