About The Position

The Director of Nursing Admission serves as a member of the enrollment management team and incorporates a full range of undergraduate student outreach, recruitment, and yield of undergraduate students interested in undergraduate programs, with an emphasis on nursing. The position will focus on nursing admissions and works collaboratively with the nursing program leadership and nursing faculty within the School of Science, Engineering, and Technology to ensure adequate nursing enrollment targets are met. As the university continues to develop its nursing offerings, other student population recruitment and admission responsibilities will be added to the incumbent's portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university required; Master's degree preferred
  • 3-5 years enrollment management and/or college admission counseling
  • Must clear and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
  • Must have valid driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance and personal injury insurance; or have a self-reliant source of transportation to conduct business on a daily basis
  • Must be able to travel and work extended hours or weekends during peak times and for special programs, projects, and events.
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office and Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook and PowerPoint) including experience with virtual platforms such as Zoom; Experience in Technolutions, Slate CRM and Banner software is preferred
  • Must be able to present and engage in a stationary position with various constituencies, both in online and physical spaces, for up to three (3) continuous hours.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong public relations and customer service skills with an ability to implement diplomacy and discretion at all times; an ability to work effectively with communities across the university; Highly responsive to the needs of others.
  • Must have a high ethical standard and a strong sense of confidentiality; ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines; thrive in a complex work environment; displays solid problem solving and interpersonal skills; works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail and be able to organize workflow, coordinate activities, balance simultaneous projects without loss of efficiency in a multi-tasked environment, and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Previous nursing or health professions admission, student services or public relations experience preferred
  • Experience in the implementation and the evaluation of university recruitment and operational processes preferred
  • Experience in direct supervision of professional staff preferred.
  • Shows a working knowledge and proven ability to use analytics as part of a comprehensive enrollment strategic plan.
  • Exhibits initiative, imagination, and organizational abilities to effectively promote and manage the development of best-in-class recruitment and yielding activities.
  • Understanding of the St. Mary's culture and ability to represent and communicate the university mission to prospective students and families is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies key strategies that support student search, support integration into university wide search, and builds a funnel of volume to yield enrollment into the nursing program to include traditional and non-traditional outreach (Statewide HOSA organizations, Pre-Health and Pre-Nursing Professional organizations, 2-year, and 4-year higher education environments, health career magnet programs, high school clinical rotations, and currently enrolled students)
  • Works closely with university CRM (Technolutions Slate) leadership to develop and refine CRM practices to support the nursing program and recruitment including but not limited to application and workflow development and maintenance to ensure the timely and accurate flow of student inquiry and applicant information between the Enrollment Management Division and nursing program leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with the nursing program leadership and nursing faculty within the School of Science, Engineering, and Technology to ensure adequate nursing enrollment targets are met.
  • Conducts meetings with prospective students and parents, providing accurate information regarding the institution's current admission standards, academic and related programs, student life, cost, and financial aid.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with local community leaders, organizations, and cultural institutions.
  • Works with the school-level to organize and participate in community events, such as fairs, canvassing and school-based activities, to promote nursing program
  • Continuously updates a playbook of best practices for recruitment and enrollment and replicates across the campus
  • Works collaboratively in the development, implementation and evaluation of the university's strategic nursing recruitment plan and leverage/analysis of enrollment data in the decision-making process.
  • Collaborates with the university Marketing and Communications to develop, implement, and monitor a marketing and communication plan and strategy to support pre-nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing enrollments.
  • Visits high schools, community colleges, early college high schools, and other educational institutions as appropriate based on review of historical and market data
  • Represents the University at on- and off-campus admissions-related programs and events.
  • Reviews applications for admissions, analyze qualifications, assists in the evaluation of transcripts for applicants for credit equivalencies; implements follow-up activities including written and electronic correspondence and telephone calls.
  • Leverages third party partners (Ruffalo Noel Levitz, Encoura, NICHE, and others) to drive digital strategies to attract prospective nursing applicants
  • Plans and executes special projects in conjunction with the goals and objectives of the office
  • Serves on university committees/councils as assigned
  • Travels on behalf of the university for recruitment purposes, professional development, and other college related events. Travel may constitute up to 30% of annual work with seasonal fluctuations and demands
