About The Position

As a Director of North American Foreign Trade (FTZ) Compliance, you’ll be part of our Tools and Outdoor Supply Chain team working as a hybrid employee. You’ll get to: Responsible for overseeing all aspects of Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) activities within the organization. Ensures compliance with federal regulations, optimizes operational efficiency, and manages FTZ-related projects to support business objectives. Lead a team, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement in FTZ processes. Develop, implement, and manage FTZ operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and other applicable laws. Oversee daily FTZ operations, including inventory control, admission and withdrawal processes, recordkeeping, and reporting. Serve as the primary point of contact for FTZ matters with CBP, auditors, and other regulatory agencies. Lead and mentor FTZ staff, providing training and guidance to ensure high performance and regulatory compliance. Coordinate with logistics, supply chain, finance, and legal teams to maximize FTZ benefits and support business goals. Monitor and analyze FTZ performance metrics, identifying opportunities for process improvement and cost savings. Manage FTZ activation, expansion, and modification projects, including site selection, application preparation, and implementation. Ensure accurate and timely filing of required documentation, including annual reports, inventory reconciliations, and CBP filings. Stay current on FTZ regulations, industry trends, and best practices; communicate changes and updates to relevant stakeholders. Develop and maintain relationships with FTZ consultants, service providers, and industry associations. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize compliance processes and reduce risk. Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for FTZ operations to ensure efficiency and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in FTZ operations, customs compliance, or international trade.
  • In-depth knowledge of FTZ regulations, CBP requirements, and import/export processes.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in FTZ software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s preferred
  • FTZ Operator or Administrator certification preferred.
  • Experience with trade compliance software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP GTS, Oracle GTM) preferred.
