About The Position

The KIPP Texas Director of Interventions plays a critical role in advancing the KTX mission by ensuring that all students—regardless of academic need, learning difference, or circumstance—receive timely, high-quality, and effective supports to achieve at high levels. This leader drives the vision for a strong, integrated Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) across KIPP Texas and serves as a strategic thought partner, systems builder, and problem solver for schools and regional leaders. The Director of Interventions is responsible for leading and overseeing the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of KIPP Texas’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports. This includes ensuring strong alignment and integration between Tier 1 instruction, Tier 2 interventions, and Tier 3 intensive supports across academic, behavioral, and social-emotional domains. The Director works in close partnership with Special Education, 504, curriculum, instruction, and school leadership teams. Strategy: Lead with a strategic vision to design, implement, and continuously improve a high-quality, integrated Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) across KTX. This position will be responsible for ensuring school and regional teams effectively implement MTSS systems to drive improved student outcomes through strong Tier 1 instruction, targeted Tier 2 interventions, and intensive Tier 3 supports. Team Leadership: Supervise and coach on MTSS and intervention. This position will monitor performance, conduct evaluations, and implement growth and improvement plans to ensure high-quality implementation of MTSS structures, data-driven decision-making, and instructional intervention systems across campuses. Communication: Ensure KTX MTSS systems and supports are communicated clearly, implemented consistently, and supported through strong collaboration with academic, campus, and regional teams. Promote excellent service, responsiveness, and coordinated problem-solving support for schools. Systems, Policy, and Alignment: Possess deep knowledge of high-performing MTSS systems and structures, including data-based problem solving, progress monitoring, intervention design, and tiered service delivery. Also, maintain strong working knowledge of IDEA and Section 504 to ensure MTSS systems align with and support special education and 504 processes, including strong referral, evaluation, and service-delivery decision-making. Resource and Budget Alignment: Collaborate with Academic, Finance, and Special Education leadership to ensure staffing models, intervention resources, and budgets are strategically aligned to MTSS priorities and student needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Teacher Certification Required. EC-4 or 4-8 Generalist or Content Certification Preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of leadership experience as a school administrator and/or systems level leadership with demonstrated results.
  • Experience in developing, analyzing and implementing Federal, State and Local Special Education regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated proficient knowledge of computer operations such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Outlook email.
  • Reliable transportation is needed for travel between campuses
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Work with frequent interruptions.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Collaboration: Provide vision and strategic leadership for the KTX MTSS framework, ensuring alignment with KIPP’s mission, academic priorities, and student achievement goals.
  • Partner with the Managing Director of Special Education Academic Programs and Directors of Special Education to set priorities, establish goals, and drive continuous improvement through data-driven problem solving.
  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional collaboration with curriculum, instruction, assessment, school leadership, and special Education teams.
  • Prepare and present MTSS updates, outcomes, and strategic priorities to KTX leadership and key stakeholders.
  • MTSS Systems Design and Implementation: Design, implement, and continuously improve KTX’s MTSS framework across academic, behavioral, and social-emotional domains.
  • Ensure strong Tier 1 instructional alignment, high-quality Tier 2 intervention systems, and effective Tier 3 intensive supports across campuses.
  • Establish and oversee campus and regional problem-solving structures, progress monitoring systems, and data review cycles.
  • Ensure schools implement consistent, high-quality intervention scheduling, staffing models, and service delivery structures.
  • Monitor fidelity of MTSS implementation and intervene when systems or practices are not producing desired student outcomes.
  • Data, Progress Monitoring, and Accountability: Lead the development and execution of KTX’s MTSS data systems, including universal screening, progress monitoring, and outcome tracking.
  • Establish clear metrics for MTSS effectiveness and regularly report on system performance and student impact.
  • Alignment with Special Education and Compliance Systems: Collaborate closely with the Director of Special Education Assessment to ensure MTSS systems: Reduce inappropriate referrals Strengthen pre-referral intervention Improve the quality of evaluation data Support high-quality IEP and 504 decision-making
  • Ensure MTSS practices are aligned with IDEA and Section 504 requirements, particularly in the areas of referral, evaluation, and progress monitoring.
  • Support schools in using MTSS data as part of compliance, eligibility, and instructional planning processes.
  • Community Engagement and Communication: Communicates and coordinates KTX’s MTSS framework, systems, and organizational processes; Prepares and presents MTSS-related data, implementation updates, and key initiative information to district leadership, campus administrators, and key stakeholders to support continuous improvement and informed decision-making.
  • Serves as the district-level liaison for parent and community concerns related to academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports within the MTSS framework.
  • Other Duties: Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned by the Managing Director of Special Education Academic Programs
