About The Position

The Director of Mission Advancement is responsible for leading strategic Association initiatives. The Director of Mission Advancement will work collaboratively to grow, in size and impact, critical mission-critical programs that reflect the Y’s commitment to Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. Key components of this position include (a) raising funds, primarily through grants/sponsorships, to support these mission-critical efforts; and (b) program implementation/execution. Working with the Senior Leadership, Operations, and Advancement teams, the Director of Mission Advancement will serve as a critical leader in the Y’s advancement efforts. This is a grant-funded position.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a human services field and three (3) years of previous fundraising experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Superior oral/written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and strong presentation skills required.
  • The ability to effectively represent the Y under a variety of circumstances, including interactions/meetings with funders, staff, and volunteers, and at networking opportunities.
  • Must be able to work both independently and with a broad range of internal and external partners to develop relationships, facilitate collaboration and achieve results.
  • Demonstrated project coordination and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and strong attention-to-detail.
  • Must possess a high energy level and a positive attitude that represents the values and expectations of the YMCA.
  • Must be familiar with and committed to the mission of the Y.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule and work evenings and weekends upon occasion.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended duration.
  • Must be able to keyboard-data entry for extended duration.
  • Must be able to bend and stoop occasionally.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to work at a computer screen for extended period

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the CEO and CDO, designs, implements, and executes key mission-critical programs. This includes all aspects of program design and delivery, such as partnership development/cultivation; participant recruitment; staff recruitment and training; curriculum development; and program evaluation.
  • Ensures key program outputs and outcomes are met and exceeded during each program session. Makes proactive and timely actions to mitigate program challenges.
  • Proactively seeks funding for assigned programs, primarily through grants, sponsorships, and partner in-kind or financial support.
  • Develops and disseminates program impact reports to funders and key stakeholders.
  • Leads the development of the YMCA’s annual mission impact report, which is disseminated at the YMCA’s annual mission impact dinner each fall.
  • Supports marketing and communications team by collecting impact stories and photos in real time.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with branch leadership, community leaders, schools, and stakeholders to enhance programs’ effectiveness.
  • Ensures adherence to YMCA policies, state regulations, and best practices in youth programming.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
