About The Position

Position at Carriage House at Lee's Farm Inspiring Success, Creating Community Job Summary for the Director of Community Programming: To develop, assess and evaluate activity programs to meet the needs of a diverse assisted living population. Arrange daily options for residents including routine activities, outings, crafts, dances, music, educational classes, seminars and other similar opportunities. Categories include daily exercise, nutrition, intellectual stimulation, arts and sciences, travelogues, outings, spiritual development and residents’ individual history and experiences. This position will have community oversight in meeting all state regulations regarding all social programming ( Assisted Living and Avita Memory Care).

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in the geriatric field specializing in memory care.
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent experience with the aging process and/or disability issues.
  • Must be qualified by experience and training to develop programs appropriate for elders and disabled individuals with memory impairments.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Criminal Background Screening is required .
  • All candidates will be required to show valid proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 before commencing work or commit to obtaining full vaccination within 30 days of commencing work, unless they receive an approved exemption .

Responsibilities

  • Supervision and oversight for all programs and Activity associates
  • Oversight of Van drivers and scheduled transportation for all residents.
  • Create activities and calendar of events for community Residents.
  • Produces quality newsletter and calendar of events each month on a timely basis.
  • Develops and facilitates programs that maximize resident participation.
  • Motivates residents to take advantage of program offerings.
  • Co-ordinate special events and individual resident programs.
  • Supervise and train all activity staff and volunteers to provide quality activities that are fun and respectful to residents.
  • Will follow the STAR Club format for the activity program.
  • Will use that designation in creating calendars and other written activity descriptions, such as on Osborne visual.
  • Updates and maintains a program resource file.
  • Role model care techniques to staff and educate as needed.
  • Responsible for promoting an environment that results in resident satisfaction by exhibiting a positive attitude and timely response to resident and family needs and requests.
  • Exhibit creativity in approach and implementation.
  • Participate in meetings to discuss needs and requirements of each resident and take appropriate action as needed and directed to promote quality resident care.
  • Collaborates with Wellness in development of Care Plans, focusing on the four components of Programming
  • Organize volunteer opportunities for residents.
  • Develop service plan with RCD and resident to ensure consistent wellness of each resident.
  • Collaborate and maintain routine communication with families to ensure quality resident services
  • Assures that lifestyle programming interviews are completed on a timely basis and system is being used to program activities.
  • May participate in the initial assessment with the RCD to insure full information gathering for appropriate resident program planning.
  • Assures that fully itemized special events are distributed to all departments in a timely fashion, prior to events
  • Organize monthly resident council meetings and Family council meetings as needed.
  • Provide in-service and orientation topics to staff.
  • Oversee operation of community store.
  • Participate in the Manager on Duty program.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to help other staff whenever necessary.
