About The Position

This dynamic position oversees comprehensive marketing and events functions for the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute. Responsibilities include promoting departmental programs and services to campus and community audiences; collaborating closely with UCI Health Marketing and UC Irvine School of Medicine Marketing to ensure alignment with strategic initiatives and branding standards; managing the development and production of multiple publications, including a biannual printed department newsletter and targeted e-newsletters; and overseeing multiple social media platforms to increase visibility and engagement. The role also leads the planning and execution of complex events, including annual multi-day academic conferences, monthly lecture series, campus and community outreach programs, and provides oversight for additional events held within the facility. The ideal candidate is high-energy, highly organized, and adept at managing multiple complex projects simultaneously, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. Strong communication, writing, and editing skills are essential.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of the campus and / or medical center's product lines and services.
  • Advanced knowledge of the campus and / or medical center, including its achievements, mission, goals, vision, objectives and infrastructure.
  • Advanced knowledge of marketing principles, concepts, techniques and applications relevant to the field of promotion and advertising.
  • Advanced skills in developing, designing and implementing creative promotional and advertising strategies.
  • Advanced written, visual, interpersonal communication and political acumen skills.
  • Advanced analytical and research skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable campus and / or medical center policies and state and federal laws pertaining to marketing and advertising issues and concerns and other related policies or laws.
  • Skill in mentoring less experienced staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of demonstrated experience in the successful planning, implementation, and reporting of marketing programs that achieve results in support of business objectives.
