The Director of Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations for Wake Forest University School of Divinity is responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives that enhance and promote the school's distinctive identity as a national leader in graduate theological education. The Director is an innovative and visionary leader with a proven track record in creating, planning, and executing projects and programs that support the school's growth and influence at the local, regional, and national levels. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Dean, faculty, staff, students of the School of Divinity and communication teams across other academic schools, as well as with University Communications and External Relations, University Advancement, and other University offices, in developing consistent messaging and campaigns that engage a range of internal and external audiences, including current and prospective students, faculty, alumni, the Board of Visitors, employers, and the media. This role encompasses oversight of all aspects of communications, marketing, and public relations for the School of Divinity, including, but not limited to the development of print and digital marketing materials, communications from the Dean, content creation and management for the School of Divinity's website, media relations and public relations management.

  • Leads the divinity school's marketing, communications and public relations to develop and execute strategies that advance the School of Divinity short- and long-term marketing, communications and public relations goals.
  • Designs initiatives that resonate with relevant internal and external audiences, establishing the School of Divinity as a national leader in graduate theological education.
  • Works in close collaboration with the admissions office and program directors on marketing/recruitment plans and communications initiatives.
  • Utilizes cutting-edge skills in digital/social media marketing and communications techniques to engage new and current audiences.
  • Continually evaluates the effectiveness of existing and proposed communications strategies and vehicles.
  • Collaborates and manages divinity school website design, content and web optimization.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact with local, regional and national media outlets.
  • Collaborates with the University's Office of Communications and External Relations to promote School of Divinity community achievements, events and programs.
  • Advises and supports the Dean of the School of Divinity interactions with the media and general public.
  • Plays a leadership role in risk and crisis management.
  • Accountable for partnering with the Director of Finance and Administration for the School of Divinity to create marketing and communication financial plans.
  • Bachelor's degree and six to eight years of related experience in marketing, communications and public relations/media relations.
  • Preferred proficiency and technical knowledge of Microsoft Office, the Google Suite, the Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Advertising Platforms.
  • Experience with search engine optimization.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to organize workflow, maximize talents of a team and coordinate activities.
  • Superior writing, editing, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Strong collaboration, persuasion and consensus-building skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a deadline-sensitive environment.
  • Experience supervising a marketing, communications and public relations team.
  • Preferred master's degree in communications, public relations or related degree.
  • Previous experience in higher education marketing/communications/public relations.
