Goodill of Silicon Valley seeks a creative and strategic Director of Marketing, Communications and Engagement to lead the organization’s brand, messaging, and public engagement efforts. This role is responsible for developing and executing an integrated communications and marketing strategy that strengthens public awareness, elevates the organization’s impact, and supports fundraising and community engagement goals. The Director of Marketing and Communications will oversee all external communications, digital presence, and marketing materials while ensuring consistent messaging that reflects the organization’s mission and values.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations.
  • Experience developing and executing integrated marketing and communications strategies.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience managing digital platforms including websites, social media, and email marketing.
  • Experience with brand management and content development.
  • Ability to translate complex program outcomes into compelling public messaging.
  • Experience collaborating with fundraising teams to support campaigns and donor engagement.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to talk accurately and quickly to convey important instructions or ideas and may give presentations or speeches to large groups.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related fields preferred.
  • Business administration within a non-profit experience.

Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement and Public Visibility Develop and lead strategies that strengthen GWSV’s visibility, credibility, and influence across the communities it serves as it aligns with the strategic plan.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to elevate the organization’s presence through community partnerships, public events, and strategic collaborations.
  • Leverage GII as a source and connector to other Goodwills.
  • Work with programs and leadership teams to highlight program outcomes, participant success stories, and community impact in ways that deepen public understanding and support.
  • Collaborate with the development team to support fundraising campaigns and donor communications.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to solicit their support and to keep them informed.
  • Manage collaboration and communication with Partner/Tenants.
  • Secure non-profit tenants to occupy space at 1600 Technology Dr.
  • Design communications initiatives that increase community awareness of GWSV’s services and mission, contributing to increased program participation, donor engagement, and stakeholder support.
  • Support leadership in positioning GWSV as a trusted voice in workforce development and community impact through speaking opportunities, thought leadership, and public engagement.
  • Track and evaluate community engagement and communications metrics (media reach, digital engagement, event participation, and audience growth) to measure impact and refine strategies.
  • Brand Management and Storytelling Maintain and strengthen the organization’s brand identity across all platforms and materials.
  • Develop compelling storytelling that highlights program outcomes, sustainability and community impact.
  • Ensure consistency in visual identity, tone, and messaging.
  • Marketing, Digital Platforms, and Public Relations Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy that advances organizational visibility and engagement.
  • Train and supervise staff to support these efforts.
  • Oversee the organization’s website, social media channels, e-newsletters, and overall digital marketing presence.
  • Lead the development and distribution of marketing and communications materials including brochures, annual reports, campaign materials, and digital content.
  • Manage the creation, scheduling, and quality of content across social media and digital platforms to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment.
  • Monitor engagement metrics and analytics across digital platforms to inform and strengthen communications strategies.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists to increase public awareness of the organization’s mission and impact.
  • Collaborate with GWSV’s public relations firm for media outreach and public relations efforts, including press releases, media opportunities, and reputation management.
  • Support organizational leadership with messaging, talking points, and materials for presentations, media engagement, and public events.
  • Ensure all communications and marketing materials effectively convey the organization’s mission, programs, and community impact.
