About The Position

The Director of Marketing & Pre-Sales will be a key executive in this growth journey—responsible for building the marketing engine that elevates our brand, drives awareness, and integrates seamlessly with sales to expand the client base. This leader will establish scalable marketing systems tied to the sales funnel, integrate pre-sales into business development processes, and ensure that marketing investments translate directly into pipeline growth. With private equity backing, the director of marketing & Pre-Sales will be expected to demonstrate measurable ROI through client acquisition, engagement, and revenue contribution.

Requirements

  • 12–15+ years in B2B marketing, demand generation, and/or pre-sales within technology services, outsourcing, or engineering firms.
  • Proven ability to build a marketing engine from the ground up—brand, collateral, digital presence, events, PR.
  • Experience in PE-backed or high-growth environments, with track record of measurable ROI.
  • Deep understanding of marketing-sales alignment and proven success in pipeline generation.
  • Strong expertise in modern marketing channels: LinkedIn, content marketing, podcasts, events, digital campaigns.
  • Leadership experience building and scaling a marketing/pre-sales team.
  • Excellent communication, client-facing, and executive presence.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field required; MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build the SmarTek marketing engine foundation through phased, cadenced initiatives aligned to the marketing funnel.
  • Clarify firm positioning for internal audiences (employees), existing customers (expertise + expanded offerings), and new prospects (brand awareness).
  • Establish brand guidelines and principles across all companies, ensuring consistency across decks, brochures, communications, and digital channels.
  • Oversee development of marketing assets: About Us deck, offering brochures, collateral templates, corporate website, LinkedIn, Instagram, PR/communications, and podcast series for thought leadership and client engagement.
  • Design and execute event strategy including registrations, speaking engagements, and supporting collateral.
  • Integrate marketing and sales, ensuring a seamless handoff of leads and shared accountability for pipeline growth.
  • Define funnel KPIs (# of leads, conversion rates, pipeline velocity) and track ROI of marketing activities.
  • Build pre-sales processes, collateral, and tools to support client acquisition and expansion.
  • Oversee early client introductions and pre-sales relationship building; partner with Sales/Delivery leadership.
  • Build a high-performing marketing & pre-sales team, including content, digital, events, and demand generation specialists.
  • Partner with design and delivery leaders to ensure marketing reflects the firm’s technical depth and innovation.
  • Develop a structured calendar of activity across channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, podcasts, events).
  • Report progress and KPIs to CEO and PE partners; demonstrate ROI with clear attribution to pipeline growth.
