As the Director of Maintenance at the Orlando Sanford International Airport, employed by the Sanford Airport Authority, you will oversee a team of approximately 32 maintenance department staff responsible for the upkeep and performance of airport property, grounds, pavements, and various facility assets. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and efficiency of the airport through effective management of maintenance requests, repairs, and construction projects. You will be tasked with developing and overseeing a software-based work order system, supervising the activities of grounds and facilities team members, and planning routine maintenance to sustain operational standards. Your responsibilities will include managing the Maintenance Department to ensure that the airfield, airport grounds, terminal, tenant facilities, and Authority equipment are maintained in a safe and reliable condition. You will receive, review, and prioritize all maintenance requests, which may involve lighting systems, pavements, airfield markings, signage, and tenant buildings. Additionally, you will create and maintain records of completed and anticipated maintenance tasks, manage departmental expenditures in line with budget parameters, and oversee all procurements associated with the budget. In this role, you will also plan and assign duties to team members and contractors, ensuring compliance with relevant building codes and FAA regulations. You will read and review plans and blueprints, develop departmental operating budgets, and monitor expenditures. Your leadership will extend to planning, organizing, and managing maintenance obligations through subordinate supervisors and administrative staff, ensuring effective execution of asset life cycle maintenance and infrastructure management standards. You will work closely with the management team to develop capital improvement project budgets and proactively monitor conditions around the airport to ensure regulatory compliance and safety. Furthermore, you will orchestrate ongoing preventative maintenance tasks, interact with vendors and contractors, and participate in the hiring and training of maintenance staff. Providing technical oversight, mentoring, and performance evaluations will be key aspects of your role, as will ensuring adherence to safety procedures and compliance with airport security restrictions. You will also be expected to maintain high levels of customer service while interacting with tenants and the general public.
