About The Position

The Director of Lending Administration is responsible for directing and leading key activities related to loan operations. This role supports both Relationship Management teams and the Lending Operations team, which includes consumer and commercial loan documentation and operations. The Director of Lending Administration is responsible for creating synergies between these two critical groups. This role provides strategic oversight and governance of end-to-end loan operational processes—from origination at the relationship management level, through processing, closing, booking, and servicing—partnering with the Lending Operations Manager and team to drive consistency, risk control, and continuous improvement. Primary emphasis is commercial lending, including C&I and owner-occupied commercial real estate, with oversight across a broad range of commercial lending, as well as select consumer and residential lending processes. Includes significant people leadership and indirect/informal leadership. This role supports the relationship management teams across the enterprise, ensuring comprehensive on the job training of systems to include Fiserv/Premier UI, LaserPro, MortgageBot, Abrigo LOS, bank credit, compliance and operations policies and best practices, as well as State and Federal regulations. Will work collaboratively with Market Directors to ensure relationship management teams receive administrative support that enhances the client experience. Additionally, the Director of Lending Administration will oversee work distribution to ensure all operations and support teams are working at optimal levels. Serves as the liaison between Commercial Relationship Specialists and Lending Operations to provide insights regarding proposed changes that impact loan documentation processes and requirements, as well as remains abreast of regulatory, legal, technical and company updates of interest to relationship management teams. Ensures the accuracy and uniformity of all legal and loan documents and minimizes the risk of loss to the Bank, including credit risk mitigation factors and loan structure consistent with the loan approval. Ensures that all loans are closed and maintained in accordance with State and Federal regulations and Bank policies and guidelines.  

Requirements

  • 4- Year Undergraduate Degree (e.g., BS or BA) preferably with a business or finance focus or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in commercial lending operations credit administration, lending admin/loan documentation, including 7 years leading teams.
  • Subject matter expertise in credit risk management, loan documentation and loan structure
  • Working knowledge of a loan accounting system from a major core banking system 
  • Demonstrated leadership of geographically disbursed teams 
  • Local travel required up to 30%
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Act as a cultural ambassador to internal and external clients, providing a professional, exceptional, and supportive experience with each interaction.
  • Support the relationship management teams to provide loan processing and loan maintenance support, as well as client service to Market Directors and Commercial Relationship Managers to ensure excellent client experience
  • Ensure proper training for Commercial Relationship Specialists, Document Preparation, and Loan Operations Teams on loan closing and documentation procedures, required documentation, loan servicing, government and bank regulations 
  • Collaborate with Lending Operations Manager to establish metrics and reporting of key performance and risk indicators to manage the operational risk associated with loan processing, loan documentation, and loan operations teams to ensure compliance with operational policies and procedures 
  • Make independent decisions involving complex operational or client loan services issues and escalate to executive leaders as appropriate
  • Oversee work distribution to ensure Commercial Relationship Specialist, Loan Documentation, and Loan Operation teams are working at optimal levels
  • In cooperation with the Lending Operations manager, develop collaborative working relationships with other departments to ensure overall processes are being properly executed for optimal efficiency 
  • Serve as primary escalation contact for service-related issues arising from clients and/or operational entities 
  • Ensure established processes are followed and loan documentation is generated and executed according to the Bank’s policies and procedures and are within regulatory guidelines 
  • Monitor quality control process to ensure loan documentation aligns with approvals, including covenants, collateral, guaranties, and closing conditions 
  • Partner with Credit/Risk/Legal to manage documentation exceptions and ensure mitigants are enforceable/perfected 
  • Provide input on performance management of Commercial Relationship Specialists through collaboration with Market Directors 
  • Responsible for support of enterprise-wide projects that may be assigned (e.g. continuous improvement initiatives)
  • Improve and create operational systems, processes and policies to provide the highest quality client/borrower and employee experience – specifically, create/support enhanced organizational planning, business processes, information flow and management reporting 
  • Manag and optimizes revenues and expenses, including costs associated with personnel and vendor services with the Lending Operations Manager 
  • Stay current on safety and soundness and compliance regulations by attending conferences, training and reading available information
  • Key Lending Support Outcomes: Reduce documentation exceptions, booking exceptions, and rework Improve approval-to-close cycle time Standardizing covenant/tickler discipline Strengthening hand-offs between relationship management teams and lending operations
