About The Position

This position is responsible for managing the daily operations of student leadership programs, including effective evaluation and implementation of projects and programming. The role involves leading departmental initiatives, participating in budgetary oversight, and managing policy and procedure development and administrative decision-making. It requires discretion with confidential information and may include supervision of support staff and student employees. The Director plays a key role in advancing student leadership development through evidence-based programming, collaboration with campus partners, and engagement with external stakeholders. Specific duties include serving as the advisor for the Presidents Leadership Council (PLC) and Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) scholarship programs, overseeing course development for Freshman Leadership courses, and coordinating the Lessons in Leadership Speaker Series. The Director also manages the leadership scholarship review and selection process for various student groups, assists in designing and evaluating comprehensive leadership programs, and personally delivers instructional materials. Furthermore, the role involves developing and implementing leadership presentations and workshops for elementary and high school programs in collaboration with community partners, and serving on university committees.

Requirements

  • Master's degree and 3+ years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, human relations, public relations, and organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to interact professionally with all segments of the University community
  • Good supervisory, report preparation and project management skills

Responsibilities

  • Managing the daily operations of the student leadership program(s) by ensuring effective evaluation and implementation of area projects and programming

  • Serving as the advisor and primary contact for the Presidents Leadership Council (PLC) and Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) scholarship programs
  • Overseeing course development for the Freshman Leadership Fall and Spring Courses
  • Developing and Coordinating the Lessons in Leadership Speaker Series
  • Directing the leadership scholarship review and selection process, including incoming freshman, transfer, and continuing selection of students
  • Assisting with designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive leadership programs including activities, seminars, and other experiential and developmental opportunities based upon specific student leadership development outcomes and best practices research
  • Leading by example, personally delivering select instructional materials
  • Directing, developing, implementing leadership presentations and workshops delivered to elementary and high school programs and schools through collaboration with undergraduate enrollment and other community partners
  • Serving on necessary university committees
  • Performing other related duties as assigned
