About The Position

The role provides leadership, direction, and administration of operations within the Laboratory Department. The individual will collaborate with Clinic Administration, Pathology, and Clinical Laboratory Medical Directors to develop and maintain appropriate controls, policies, procedures, and outcome monitoring mechanisms. The position also involves developing the annual budget and overseeing profit and loss for laboratory divisions, assisting business leaders with sales efforts, and promoting new opportunities to improve financial outcomes through lab services. Additionally, the role includes hiring qualified personnel, ensuring appropriate training for laboratory staff, and developing customer service improvement efforts for both internal and external customers. The individual will ensure that laboratory divisions meet or exceed established operating goals, including quality testing and turnaround times, while supervising the daily activities of laboratory scientists, technicians, and clerical personnel.

Requirements

  • Two years of related experience is required.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a laboratory, with experience in a multi-specialty clinic or hospital environment is preferred.
  • General business acumen is highly desired.
  • Bachelor's degree is required; certification as a Medical Technologist is highly desired.
  • The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes profitability of new services in conjunction with financial team.
  • Hires qualified personnel and ensures that laboratory staff are appropriately trained.
  • Develops and monitors customer service improvement efforts for internal and external customers.
  • Ensures laboratory divisions meet or exceed established operating goals, including but not limited to, quality testing and turnaround times.
  • Supervises the daily activities of laboratory scientists, technicians and clerical personnel.
