About The Position

The Director of Knowledge Management & Innovation will lead organization-wide efforts to design and implement knowledge management (KM) systems and practices. The role will establish foundational KM infrastructure, support staff in effective use of systems, and ensure knowledge is leveraged for programmatic impact and fundraising. Success in this role means NHeLP staff have intuitive tools for accessing and sharing knowledge, funders see clear impact data, and external audiences can better engage with NHeLP’s expertise. This role aims to introduce and maintain effective and efficient file storage in Box, make information easier to find through knowledge and communication hubs in Box Hubs, identify and migrate the Legal & Policy research database, and set a vision for external-facing, knowledge-driven programmatic work. The Director will also chair and coordinate the Knowledge Management Team. In this capacity, the Director will set KM priorities with input from staff and SMEs, provide training and technical support, and facilitate the consistent sharing and implementation of best practices across all areas of work.

Requirements

  • 5+ years leading knowledge management or related function.
  • Proven track record of designing (or co-creating) adaptable processes , and articulate processes in written and visual formats.
  • Experience successfully performing data analysis and generat ing visual and written reports for various stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance collaboration, including setting clear boundaries and making decisions when faced with competing priorities.
  • Ability to perform data analysis and produce impact reports.
  • High emotional intelligence and strong communication skills.
  • Detail orientation for maintaining accurate, accessible databases.
  • Strategic and systems thinker with proficiency in KM systems and platforms.
  • Demonstrated success leading change within cross-functional initiatives.
  • Confident leadership presence with the ability to navigate challenging dynamics, manage competing opinions, and maintain organizational priorities in complex or high-stakes situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree and/or certification in knowledge management or a related field (Information science, organizational psychology, change management, among others)
  • Support the development of donor pitches and grant proposals to support knowledge management fundraising efforts.
  • Legal or policy experience
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Coalition-building experience across national networks.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
  • Supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support NHeLP staff to maintain organized databases and shared files across multiple platforms - Box, Box Hubs, Zotero, Salesforce, website, etc.
  • Serve as a key partner to legal and policy program staff in organizing current and legacy / archival research documents.
  • Set up a Legal and Policy research database to support NHeLP program staff
  • Provide training and support to all staff on KM systems, processes and best practices
  • Generate NHeLP impact data visualizations and reports for various audiences including Board, C-suite, Individual donors and foundations
  • Set multi-year KM strategic priorities with high level of engagement and input from key staff and stakeholders
  • Set annual knowledge management objectives, key results and performance metrics
  • Establish project plans and work plans supporting KM OKRs
  • Measure and report on progress against KPIs
  • Supervise (1) entry-level position (i.e. Knowledge Management Coordinator or similar title)
  • Seek staff input and partnership on developing and enhancing knowledge systems, processes, including a cross-functional Steering Committee.
  • Provide support and technical assistance related to KM applications, systems and processes.
  • Support the development of donor pitches and grant proposals to support knowledge management fundraising efforts.
  • Manage KM financials (Budget, Expenses and ROI analysis)
