The Director of IT will report directly to the Senior Director of Field operations. The Director of IT will oversee and manage a diverse team of IT staff, including Computer Associates and Service Technicians. This role is responsible for the planning, implementation, and support of technology solutions, with a specific focus on field inspection software and handheld devices. The Director of IT acts as the primary liaison between the Bureau, the Department of Information Technology (DIT), and the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DOITT), ensuring all technical directives and policies are effectively implemented.

  • Supervises a diverse team of IT technical staff, and other staff members ensuring all project deadlines are met and fostering a positive collaboration among all team members.
  • Oversees and coordinates communication between BFSCS, the Department of Information Technology and telecommunication (DOITT), and the Department of Information Technology (DIT), ensuring that Bureau policies and standards are effectively implemented.
  • Directs and coordinates inspection projects with BESP, facilitating the exchange of information, updates, and feedback.
  • Manages and coordinate Bureau handheld devices and updates, ensuring that all deployments are in sync with business rules and specifications.
  • Supervises the installation, configuration and maintenance of software tools used for inspections, ensuring they meet the specific needs of the program.
  • Provides oversight for identifying, troubleshooting and resolution of network, hardware and software issues, including upgrades, updates and data migration.
  • Oversees the planning, and implementation of projects including identification and purchasing of new hardware and software.
  • Performs routine maintenance, system validation, and diagnostics to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provides high-level technical support and training for inspectors, and staff, on how to use inspection software, computer hardware and tools effectively.
  • Reviews and incorporate inspector feedback to improve inspection processes, software and related tools.
  • Ensures accurate documentation of all services activities, system changes, resolution steps and root cause analyses for long-term solutions.
  • Perform other tasks within title as required.
  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible full-time paid experience supervising or administering computer operations involving a large-scale mainframe, network, or multi-tier computer environment at least 18 months of which shall have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity.
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for a maximum of two (2) years of general experience described above.
  • In the absence of a baccalaureate degree, undergraduate credits may be substituted for a maximum of two (2) years of general experience described above on the basis of 30 semester credits for six (6) months of experience.
  • A master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration or Management of Administration may be substituted for a maximum of one (1) year of general experience described above.
  • In the absence of a master's degree, graduate credits in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration or Management of Administration may be substituted for a maximum of one (1) year of the general experience on the basis of 30 graduate semester credits for one (1) year of experience.
