The Director of IT Project Management at Northern Essex Community College (NECC) is a key leadership role responsible for driving strategic IT initiatives and partnerships while ensuring the effective delivery of IT services across the college. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Office (CTO), the Director will provide leadership, direction, and support to ensure that IT projects and services align with the college's goals and objectives. This role demands a strategic thinker with strong leadership, project management, and service management skills. The Director will be responsible for Assembling and leading cross-functional project teams to effectively address project requirements according to the project charters, schedules, and approved budgets.

  • Lead and manage IT projects, ensuring the successful delivery of IT services that meet the college's strategic objectives.
  • Develop and maintain effective and efficient communication with the project sponsor(s) and project team
  • Develop, oversee, and implement project management within all aspects of IT.
  • Ensure the project team members understand and complete their specific role, responsibilities, and tasks.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of a diverse portfolio of IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Assist project sponsors in defining project scope, objectives, cost, and timeline and perform project closeout review to ensure projects meet expectations and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to develop, document, and maintain the IT documentation for all implementations.
  • Negotiate contracts, Procure IT Equipment, evaluate vendor performance, and optimize vendor relationships.
  • Ensure IT policies, procedures, and practices comply with relevant technology governance and regulations.
  • Participate in college-wide governance committees.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to other team members, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability.

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing projects and programs.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) and IT service management (e.g., ITIL, COBIT).
  • Experience in a higher education environment, understanding the unique IT needs and challenges of academic institutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and drive organizational change and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and other higher education technology solutions.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
