We are currently looking for a Director of Investment Accounting in either our Warren, New Jersey headquarters or our New York City office. This is a hybrid position working 3 days in office, 2 remote. In this role, you will interact and support several aspects of accounting, financial analysis, and reporting for the group.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in investment accounting; public accounting and public company reporting environment a plus.
  • Solid understanding of investment accounting and reporting under U.S. GAAP.
  • Experience with U.S. insurance statutory accounting and reporting a plus.
  • Leadership skills and ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly skilled in math, accounting, and financial processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Highly proficient with Excel.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent degree) in accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant (or equivalent certification) preferred.
  • Knowledge of PAM and Bloomberg a plus.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Oracle a plus.
  • Insurance/reinsurance industry experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Accounting and reporting of investments on a U.S. GAAP and U.S. Statutory basis.
  • Support the management of the monthly and quarterly investment close process.
  • Preparation and or review of various U.S. statutory investment schedules.
  • Preparation and or review of various U.S. GAAP investment disclosures.
  • Supervision of the reconciliation of investment related cash accounts.
  • Support local reporting of foreign branches and subsidiaries.
  • Coordinate with financial reporting and investment management teams.
  • Establishing and maintaining internal controls.
  • Research accounting issues for new investment structures and coordinate any changes required in workflow and operations.
  • Assist with the review of fair value of investments and related impairment analysis.
  • Providing monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses along with account reconciliations.
  • Assist with ad-hoc analyses and strategic projects determined by the needs of senior management.
