SFBU is seeking a strategic, mission-driven, and globally minded disrupter to serve as our Director of International Partnerships. This is not a traditional administrative role. It is a high-impact leadership position at the center of SFBU’s Global Campus Program, our bold initiative to extend high-quality, student-centered education to learners around the world without replicating the barriers of conventional internationalization models. This is a full-time, exempt role (hybrid/remote), requiring occasional international travel. The Director will act as SFBU’s primary in-region representative across Asia, driving the development of transformative university partnerships that expand access to flexible, high-value academic pathways. This role advances: Partnership identification, cultivation, and long-term relationship management. Regional recruitment and market-expansion strategies. Curriculum mapping and alignment to regional needs. Accreditation, regulatory, and compliance readiness. Implementation of asynchronous learning models designed for global scale. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in international higher education partnerships, university relations, or academic program management.
  • Must reside in California with ability for international extensive travel or reside internationally.
  • Demonstrated success cultivating and managing institutional partnerships.
  • Strong intercultural communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across time zones in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, data literacy, and ability to collaborate with senior leaders, faculty, staff, students, and international partners.
  • Commitment to SFBU’s values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and student-centered education.
  • Willingness to travel across Southeast Asia and internationally.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with curriculum review, transfer pathways, or academic quality assurance.
  • Familiarity with SIS, Salesforce, and online learning systems such as Canvas.
  • Teaching or instructional experience at the university level.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend new international university partners that align with SFBU’s strategic direction and academic standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with educational institutions, government bodies, and regional organizations.
  • Conduct quarterly analyses of regional trends, competitor activity, and educational needs to inform SFBU’s global engagement strategy.
  • Support the development and delivery of SFBU’s 4+0, 3+1, dual-degree, and online Global Campus pathways.
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic leaders to ensure curriculum alignment and transfer pathways that uphold SFBU’s academic quality and accreditation requirements.
  • Execute region-specific recruitment and engagement activities, including partner events, information sessions, university fairs, and in-country outreach.
  • Represent SFBU’s mission, values, and offerings to prospective students and partner institutions.
  • Develop an annual calendar of outreach events, webinars, and communication initiatives for international university partners.
  • Monitor program and partner performance to ensure alignment with SFBU’s accreditation standards, policies, and student-centered commitments.
  • Prepare annual partnership evaluations and provide data-informed recommendations for improvement or expansion.
  • Maintain risk profiles for each partner institution and communicate early indicators of quality, compliance, or operational concerns.
