About The Position

The Director of Institutional Advancement at Wytheville Community College (WCC) is responsible for managing various non-profit organizations associated with the college, including the Educational Foundation, Scholarship Foundation, and Real Estate Foundation. This role involves overseeing fundraising activities, grant writing, and public information management, while also supervising staff and ensuring compliance with relevant policies.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in business, education, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with various constituencies.
  • Past fundraising experience.
  • Past event planning experience.
  • Past grant-writing experience.
  • Past experience in administration including supervision and managing personnel.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the community college mission.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Wytheville Community College Educational Foundation, Inc., Scholarship Foundation, Inc., and Real Estate Foundation, Inc.
  • Lead planning and implementation of annual and special gift campaigns and fundraising activities.
  • Recruit and cultivate Foundation donors and volunteers.
  • Oversee management of meetings for the Boards of Directors of the Foundations.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Foundations, including donation acknowledgment and record keeping.
  • Oversee scholarship programs and community college tuition assistance programs.
  • Manage participation in the Department of Education's Neighborhood Assistance Program.
  • Lead special college events and ensure compliance with legal policies.
  • Develop and manage the WCC Alumni Association and planned giving program.
  • Administer the WCC Public Information Office and oversee college marketing plans.
  • Identify grant opportunities and manage grant applications and reporting.
  • Supervise Institutional Advancement and Public Information Office staff.
  • Assist with legislative advocacy initiatives and advise the President on private support matters.
