About The Position

The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) is seeking a full-time Director of Information Technology. This is a state position governed by the Civil Service Rules, in state government located in Oklahoma City, OK. OMMA offers a comprehensive benefits packet, including a generous benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents. The annual salary for this position is up to $115,000 based on education and experience. Position Summary The Director of Information Technology (IT) provides strategic and operational leadership for enterprise technology services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and public service delivery. This role oversees cross-functional IT teams, manages large-scale modernization initiatives, and ensures the secure, efficient, and innovative use of technology across the enterprise. The Director will be a leader trusted to connect appropriate technological solutions to the agency’s business needs to maintain efficiency and financial stewardship.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of completion of a bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or a closely related field and eight years of progressive IT leadership experience, including management of cross‑functional teams.
  • Applicants must also demonstrate proven experience in enterprise architecture, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), and established cybersecurity frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes IT strategies that support digital transformation, data enablement, and operational efficiency.
  • Aligns IT initiatives with business objectives and statewide technology modernization goals.
  • Serves as a key advisor to executive leadership on technology trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Leads multiple IT teams (e.g., Application Development, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Data Services).
  • Oversees the delivery and support of 15–30 enterprise applications and platforms.
  • Ensures compliance with IT governance, security, and procurement policies.
  • Directs large-scale IT projects, including cloud migrations, legacy system replacements, and platform integrations.
  • Monitors project performance, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Champions agile and product-centric delivery models.
  • Manages and mentors IT managers and technical leads.
  • Fosters a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Supports workforce development through training, upskilling, and succession planning.
  • Collaborates with agency leaders, vendors, and external partners to deliver citizen-centered solutions.
  • Represents IT in executive forums, legislative briefings, and interagency initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
