About the position

The Director of Information Technology Systems is responsible for providing and managing administrative programming and support services to all campuses and departments. This role requires a strong understanding of the TEA's Systems, including PEIMS, TSDS, Ed-Fi, and TEDS systems, as well as data requirements associated with these systems. The position demands a comprehensive knowledge of data analysis principles, including statistical and mathematical computations, and a solid grasp of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Texas Public Information Act (TPIA). The Director will also need to demonstrate strong organizational skills to coordinate district-wide committees and projects effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide and manage administrative programming and support services to all campuses and departments.
• Coordinate district-wide committees and projects.
• Ensure compliance with FERPA and TPIA regulations.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of software systems related to TEA's requirements.
• Lead and supervise IT staff and projects.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a computer-related field.
• Minimum of four years' experience in progressively complex software system development with some analysis and design experience.
• Minimum of three years' experience in an end-user and computer support environment.
• Experience with TEA's PEIMS, TSDS, and TEDS processes.
• Strong working knowledge of TEA's Systems, including PEIMS, TSDS, Ed-Fi, and TEDS systems and data requirements.
• Strong knowledge of data analysis principles, including statistical and mathematical computations.
• Strong working knowledge of FERPA and TPIA.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience using minicomputers/mainframes and microcomputers.
