About The Position

As the Director of Human Resources, you will serve as a strategic leader responsible for shaping and executing HR strategies that advance the credit union's mission, business objectives, and culture. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), you will lead the Human Resources team and oversee all aspects of HR Operations, including employee relations, compliance, recruitment, HRIS management, compensation, and policy administration. The Director of Human Resources will provide strategic direction and partnership to leaders across the organization, ensuring that HR practices align with business priorities, promote accountability, and foster a positive and inclusive workplace. This role requires exceptional judgement, discretion, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

Requirements

  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, including at least three years in a senior leadership capacity overseeing multiple HR functions.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing organization-wide HR strategies, leading high-performing teams, and advising executive leaders.
  • Experience in employee relations, compliance, and workforce planning required.
  • Experience with financial services or credit unions preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, PHR-CA, or SPHR strongly preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR principles, employment law, organizational development, and change management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and deliver measurable results.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to maintaining current knowledge of HR trends and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the Human Resources team in the development and implementation of HR strategies and programs aligned with organizational objectives, manage the HR budget, and modernize policies and procedures.
  • Oversees HR operations including employee relations, compliance, and staffing to ensure consistency and alignment with core values.
  • Serves as a strategic partner to senior leadership by providing data-driven insights, workforce planning, and organizational development recommendations.
  • Directs all aspects of employee relations, investigations, and disciplinary processes to ensure consistency, fairness, and legal compliance.
  • Provides strategic guidance and coaching to managers on complex employee issues, workplace investigations, and corrective action.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and oversees the maintenance of accurate and confidential records.
  • Collaborates with the CHRO and legal counsel as needed on risk mitigation strategies.
  • Oversees the talent acquisition process, ensuring recruitment practices support organizational growth and retention goals.
  • Partners with external recruitment agencies and internal stakeholders to attract and select top talent.
  • Leads workforce planning initiatives and provides compensation and offer recommendations.
  • Develops strategies to improve recruitment efficiency and candidate experience.
  • Oversees the administration and optimization of HR systems and technology.
  • Identifies opportunities to streamline HR workflows, enhance reporting, and ensure data integrity.
  • Leverages metrics and analytics to monitor turnover engagement, and key HR indicators to support strategic decision-making.
  • Partners with leadership to reinforce a culture of accountability, recognition, and inclusion.
  • Leads initiatives that promote employee engagement, professional development, and retention.
  • Supports succession planning and leadership development efforts to strengthen organizational capacity and continuity.
