About The Position

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for overseeing the HR function at company-owned golf facilities, ensuring exceptional service for both associates and guests. This role involves managing employee relations, performance management, compliance, and HR system support, while also providing guidance on compensation and employee engagement. The position is based in Birmingham, AL, and requires a consistent in-office presence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in Human Resources management with emphasis in employee relations.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and talent management systems (UKG).
  • Knowledge of state and local employment laws.
  • SHRM-CP/PHR or SHRM-CP/PHR eligible preferred.

  • Experience with employee engagement surveys and focus groups.
  • Familiarity with training curriculum development for managers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee 2-3 Human Resources professionals supporting various HR functions.
  • Resolve problems related to policy interpretations, job performance, and employee relations.
  • Conduct fact-finding interviews and recommend corrective actions for conduct and performance issues.
  • Represent management in investigating and settling grievances and employee complaints.
  • Coordinate meetings between employees and management for dispute resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the HR team and serve as the HR business partner to the Regional Operations team.
  • Assist in developing and interpreting HR policies and procedures.
  • Improve manager and employee performance through coaching and counseling.
  • Participate in onboarding processes for new clubs transitioning into the organization.
  • Represent the company in dealings with government agencies like the EEOC and Department of Labor.
  • Administer employee engagement surveys and implement action items based on results.
  • Coordinate recruitment methods with hiring managers to attract quality candidates.
  • Conduct reference and background checks and pre-employment drug screenings.
  • Develop training curriculums for field managers to enhance their skills.
  • Conduct proactive facility HR audits.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to property leaders and direct reports.
  • Travel to conduct presentations and investigations (approximately 15-20%).
  • Create and deliver presentations on leadership, compliance, and anti-harassment.
