About The Position

The Metropolitan School District of Washington Township (MSDWT) is located in the northern section of Indianapolis, Indiana and Marion County. It is a dynamic community with broad diversity in cultures, religions, ethnic groups, races, and socioeconomic levels. The district has been an educational leader in Indiana for the last 60 years and offers a comprehensive educational curriculum with special activities and programs geared to provide enrichment, exploration, and instructional support for students. The Director of Human Resources will report to the Assistant Superintendent of Operational Services and is responsible for a variety of HR functions including recruitment, employee relations, and compliance with legal regulations.

Requirements

  • Previous HR Experience Preferred
  • Active Indiana Administrators License Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Developing and directing procedures for the selection and recommendation of qualified candidates for employment.
  • Formulating and maintaining procedures for recruiting, interviewing, and transferring personnel.
  • Establishing and maintaining procedures for the storage and retrieval of personnel records.
  • Coordinating a benefits and services program for all district personnel.
  • Adhering to board policy and legal regulations in employee dismissals.
  • Preparing and submitting all state, local, and federal personnel forms and reports.
  • Coordinating onboarding of new employees and evaluation programs.
  • Maintaining a system of personnel accounting and research.
  • Supervising the work assignments for HR staff.
  • Developing and facilitating personnel procedures to improve employee morale.
  • Assisting payroll in preparing and processing employee information.
  • Coordinating the preparation of salary schedules and fringe benefits.
  • Participating in collective bargaining activities.
  • Assisting personnel with contract implementation and interpretation.
  • Planning and coordinating teacher recruitment fairs.
  • Meeting with employees regarding HR topics.
  • Analyzing HR-related policy and making recommendations.
  • Attending required school board and district meetings.
  • Collaborating with Teacher Association Executive Leadership.
  • Overseeing various hearings including unemployment and FMLA claims.
  • Working closely with building principals on various HR topics.
  • Collaborating with the Superintendent and CFO on HR issues.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned.
