About The Position

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for, but not limited to, the overall human resources staff and functions, including the day-to-day operations of the hiring, staffing, coordination of health benefits and welfare related issues,labor relations, learning & development and financial obligation within the constraints of the HR budget. Most importantly the Director of Human Resources is the leader of Crew Culture and Relations. The Director of Human Resources reports to the General Manager of YOTEL with a dotted Line to the Head of Human Resources North America.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of Human Resources management experience.
  • Prior unin hotel experience required.
  • Excelent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop HR programs and policies based on business new requirements.
  • Strong project management, time management, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Solid problem-solving and business acumen skills.
  • Able to manage multitask work in a strong-paced environment.
  • Ability to mentor and supervise staff.
  • Ability to negotiate contribution agreement and contracts.
  • Able to work alone on a broad variety of projects.
  • Able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in course of work.
  • Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • Must be familiar with Word, Excel, Email and Internet

Responsibilities

  • Supports and reinforces the YOTEL culture throughout the organization.
  • Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with all crew members to ensure a high-quality, service-focused, fun, and safe working environment.
  • Works collaboratively with operations teams to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Counsels and advises corporate- and hotel-level management and crew to respond quickly and appropriately to all HR-related complaints and concerns.
  • Oversees and monitors a fair and consistent progressive discipline program; provides support as needed while maintaining an open-door policy for all crew.
  • Monitors discipline, suspension, and termination documentation and procedures; provides support as needed.
  • Monitors and reviews all exit and retention-related information; provides support as needed.
  • Tight control of labor relations, employee relations, workman’s compensation, FMLA, Disability Leave and leaves of absence.
  • Oversees, monitors, and enforces compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures timely response to all claims, court-issued documentation, and other reports requiring HR approval, action, or input.
  • Works collaboratively with hotel leadership to develop and oversee the implementation of annual plans and budgets, including policy making and general operating decisions.
  • Monitors external and internal environments to assess HR trends and “best practices”; identifies implications for the overall business strategy.
  • Prepares monthly reports that incorporate appropriate functional, operational, and financial metrics to track progress and demonstrate HR contributions to company performance.
  • Evaluates procedures and technology solutions to improve human resources data management.
  • Ensures all job descriptions are accurate, and that all recruiting and staffing guides and policies are current and implemented as designed.
  • Oversees hotel recruitment strategy; provides recruitment support for all departments.
  • Assesses and recommends reporting structures and staffing levels that support company goals and objectives.
  • Develops and maintains succession plans for hotel-crew; provides hotel-level support as needed.
  • Advise, assist and counsel managers in the employment process to include proper forecasting, hiring, succession planning, and performance problems.
  • Directs and establishes completed offer packages.
  • Address crew complaints and concerns
  • Oversees and monitors all corporate-and hotel-level training (YOLEARN) and development plans; recommends improvements and provides support as needed.
  • Provides on-going professional development support for all hotel crew.
  • Oversees and monitors the hotel-wide performance management and development system; recommends improvements and provides support as needed.
  • Facilitates ongoing feedback (Hive) from all corporate and hotel crew to assess engagement and performance; assesses trends and takes initiative to address all concerns.
  • Conducts annual wage and salary surveys for corporate staff to establish competitive compensation plans; provides support to HR staff for store-level needs.
  • Oversees administration of variable incentive programs.
  • Oversees and administration of all employee benefits.
  • Oversees administration and ensures resolution of all workers’ compensation claims.
  • Oversees administration of unemployment insurance tax management, including all responses, appeals, and hearings.
  • Develops and implements employee incentive and recognition programs; recommends and implements improvements, as necessary.
  • Maintain an 'open door' policy in HR and be personally available to all employees for work / personal problems, grievances, benefit requests, queries and suggestions.
  • Ensures that the working environment for all colleagues complies with Federal and State standards and obligations.
  • To ensure all employee files are kept up to date - and to ensure confidentiality of employee information is maintained at all time, in line with Data Protection legislation.
  • Support (lead) YOTEL North America HR related projects as agreed between HQ, General Manager & Head of Human Resources North America.
  • Performs all other tasks as requested by the YOTEL General Manager.
