The Bosch Research and Technology Center (RTC) in North America drives innovation in areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, integrated circuits, robotics, human-machine interaction, sensors, energy solutions, and advanced manufacturing. We are seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead the people strategy for our U.S. research hub. This is a hands-on and strategic role, balancing day-to-day HR leadership with the opportunity to design and deliver programs that help Bosch attract, develop, and retain the brightest minds in AI, semiconductors, and advanced R&D. The ideal candidate is an experienced HR leader who thrives in dynamic, competitive markets and is passionate about creating a world-class candidate-to-employee experience. You will lead a local HR team while also rolling up your sleeves to build programs in compensation, talent pipelines, and employee engagement that directly support Bosch’s cutting-edge research environment. This position is headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA, with additional responsibility for our Lakeview Forest, CA, and Pittsburgh, PA locations, requiring 15% travel.

  • Strategic HR Partnership
  • Partner with research leaders to align people strategies with RTC’s innovation priorities in AI, semiconductors, and advanced technologies.
  • Lead and mentor a local HR team responsible for delivering end-to-end HR programs across the employee lifecycle.
  • Balance long-term people strategies with hands-on execution to ensure a seamless candidate and employee experience.
  • Talent Development & Engagement
  • Support leaders in identifying and developing high-potential talent through targeted development plans and coaching.
  • Contribute to employee engagement strategies, surveys, and action plans that foster a positive and innovative culture.
  • Compensation & Retention
  • Design and implement competitive compensation programs tailored to talent markets where AI and semiconductor expertise are in high demand.
  • Conduct benchmarking and analysis to ensure Bosch RTC remains competitive as an employer of choice.
  • Partner with leaders on retention strategies and recognition programs to retain key talent.
  • Talent Acquisition & Early Career Programs
  • Drive full-cycle recruitment strategies to build diverse and highly skilled research teams.
  • Optimize and scale internship and university relations programs, strengthening Bosch’s future talent pipeline through close partnerships with academic institutions.
  • Oversee onboarding programs that connect new hires to Bosch’s culture and mission of “Invented for Life.”
  • Employee Relations & Compliance
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on employee relations, performance management, and policy interpretation.
  • Ensure compliance with California and federal labor laws as well as Bosch standards.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, openness, and collaboration that reflects Bosch’s values.
  • HR Operations
  • Oversee HR operations including payroll, systems integrity, reporting, and compliance audits.
  • Represent HR on the site leadership team, supporting both local and global HR requirements.
  • Serve as a key member of the site crisis management team
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven success in directly partnering with and influencing C-suite or Executive leadership on people strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of California labor law, immigration/work authorization processes, and employee relations best practices.
  • Ability to balance strategic HR leadership with hands-on execution.
  • Proven success designing compensation and retention programs for competitive, high-tech markets.
  • Active SHRM certification.
  • Experience in a research, technology, or engineering environment.
  • Background supporting high-skill, innovation-driven teams (AI, semiconductor, R&D).
  • Strong influencing, coaching, and communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Data-informed approach with the ability to translate insights into practical people solutions.
