About The Position

The Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Human Resources to join our team. As a member of the Leadership Committee, the Director of Human Resources is a highly visible role with exposure to Senior and Corporate leadership. This leader is responsible for aligning colleague strategies with our operations strategies and service initiatives to meet the hotels business objectives. The Director of Human Resources is responsible for short- and long-term planning of the HR function. This means leading strategically and tactically in the areas of workforce planning, recruitment and staffing strategies, wage and salary administration, associate and labor relations, benefits, workforce training and development and local diversity initiatives.

Requirements

  • 6 years or more of progressive Human Resource experience (typically with Hyatt)
  • Previous labor relations experience highly preferred for this role
  • Service oriented style with professional presentation skills
  • Proven leadership skills
  • High energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader
  • Proven track record in high volume concept
  • Effective communicator
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and improve the bottom line
  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills

Responsibilities

  • Cares for all stakeholders including colleagues, guests and the community
  • Develops HR strategies and administers HR policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates a strong background in employment, employee relations, benefits, wage and salary, employee training, accident prevention, and environment regulations and policies as they impact HR
  • Supports operational efforts through proper staffing and training of colleagues
  • Conducts needs analysis to develop programming and training
  • Coaches managers in developing alternatives/solutions to colleague concerns
  • Successfully defends against unemployment claims, Workers' Compensation claims, etc.
  • Conducts wage and salary surveys
  • Provides colleague counseling as necessary
  • Plans and coordinates colleague functions
  • Takes an active role in professional HR organizations
  • Works closely with Corporate HR function
  • Demonstrates Hyatt service standards and procedures
