About The Position

OVERVIEW: The Director of Health Services (DHS) leads and manages the Health Services Department and is ultimately accountable for ensuring the highest quality of care is received by Tenants. The DHS interprets health-related policies and procedures in collaboration with the Executive Director to support the provision of licensed care and delegated medical care. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Oversees onboarding, development, and offboarding of licensed and unlicensed care staff. Monitors job performance and performance evaluations of all care staff and completes scheduled performance evaluations. Monitors ongoing staff development programs for all health care personnel. Monitors the staffing levels to meet current service demands. Develops health service objectives, police,s and procedures and directs their implementation. Continuously monitors Federal and State guidelines and requirements; revises departmental procedures accordingly. Recommends in-service educational programs geared to the specialized needs of tenants and care workers. Functions as a liaison between the tenants, their families, staff, and the public - responding to inquiries and providing information on health care and services, and will screen prospective tenants to assure that staff can provide the care needed. Assures that there is compliance with the regulations pertaining to Tenant Evaluations, Nursing Reviews, and Service Plans. This position collaborates with 3 rd Party vendors and contracted providers to coordinate and enhance the quality of care for the tenant. This position assists with the preparation of the Departmental annual budget and maintains the operating budgets for personnel and medical equipment, and makes budget recommendations as to the purchase of such equipment. The Director of Health Services is responsible for overseeing and implementing infection control and pharmaceutical procedures. Participates in emergency on-call to address needs and direct staff when licensed personnel are not on site at the community. Delegates tasks to unlicensed caregivers and verifies continued competencies. Maintains records pertaining to staff and specific delegated tasks. The effectiveness of this position will be measured by the community successfully fulfilling of the state regulating agency's licensure/certification requirements, reaching stated goals of tenants, family, and staff satisfaction levels. SUPERVISION AND MANAGEMENT Manages, supervises, and evaluates health-related practices, articulates expectations, and provides corrective guidance as needed. Prioritizes work assignments consistent with number and level of staff available and tenant care acuity. Ensures proper staffing level, working as a direct care provider if needed. Ensures duties are complete, following up with delegated tasks and reviews departing staff reports. Maintains knowledge of disaster procedures and implements if needed. Promptly reports and documents incidents and errors involving tenants, staff, visitors, or self.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Three years of responsible nursing experience, preferably in Assisted Living or Long-Term Care
  • Current Registration as a Registered Nurse for the state in which the community is located.
  • Current Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and emergency care.
  • Certified Assisted Living Manager in state of operation if said certification exists.
