Director of Growth & Innovation
About The Position
We are seeking a subscriptions Director of Growth & Innovation to drive meaningful progression of our US digital subscription business building avenues for new entry points and fortifying subscriber value across the entire customer journey. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, experimentation, and execution—focused on how readers discover, value, pay for, and stay engaged with our journalism over time. It is ideal for a strategic growth leader who understands how acquisition, engagement, retention, and monetization work together. You will develop and activate new ideas for growing subscriptions that expand reach through non-traditional acquisition models. You will leverage data and technology to build partnerships, bundles, and audience programs that personalize experiences at scale, and increase value for our audiences—all within a trusted, well-established daily news organization.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in partnershipsor subscriber growth, and digital strategy.
- Experience forming and managing strategic partnershipstied to subscriber growth
- Demonstrated success driving net-new paid subscriber growththrough non-traditional or innovative acquisition approaches (e.g., partnerships, bundles, or audience programs)
- Strong understanding of the full subscription funnel and lifecycle, with the ability to design growth initiatives that balance acquisition scale with subscriber quality
- Hands-on experience working with a Customer Data Platform (CDP)and first-party data to build segments, activate audiences, and inform growth strategy
- Proven ability to translate audience insights and experimentation into scalable growth programs
- Familiarity with paywalls, offerstrategy, and subscription analytics
- Experience developing and evaluating growth hypotheses, pilots, and tests in anevolving environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively across Editorial, Product, Marketing, Dataand Audience Insights
- Strong analyticaland creative skills
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate ideas, tradeoffs, and recommendations

Responsibilities
- Explore and deliver innovative partnerships and bundled offerings that expand audience reach
- Identify and validate new growth levers for subscriptions, such as AI-driven systems
- Implementstrategy and execution of those levers through pilots and scaled programs.
- Identifyfriction points and unmet needs in the reader journey and turn them into product or growth opportunities. Develop new concepts to bring them to life.
- Build processes and frameworks that make growth experimentation repeatable and scalable.
- Use data, research, and audience insights to inform decisions.
- Understandthe customer journey and steer requirements of CDP segments and journey for optimized and seamless experience
- Translate learnings into clear recommendations that influence leadership decisions
