About The Position

The Director, Government Affairs position leads the organization’s engagement with federal, state, and local government entities. This role monitors legislative and regulatory developments, advocates for the organization’s priorities, and ensures compliance with relevant public-policy requirements. This is a remote position in Washington D.C.

Requirements

  • Security Clearance-Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance, U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute complex policy strategies.
  • Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes.
  • Strong ability to adapt to a rapidly changing operational landscape, maintaining focus and performance amid evolving goals and expectations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, government, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, legislative work, or regulatory engagement.
  • Proven experience working with elected officials, policymakers, and industry coalitions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement government affairs strategies to advance organizational goals.
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and political developments that impact the organization.
  • Engage with legislators, regulators, government agencies, and their staff to advocate for the organization’s policy objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, policymakers, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the creation of policy positions, advocacy materials, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Oversee the drafting of policy briefs, position statements, comment letters, and related materials.
  • Represent the organization at hearings, meetings, industry associations, and public forums.
  • Provide regular briefings to executive leadership on the political landscape, strategic opportunities, and potential threats.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to assess policy impacts and align advocacy efforts.
  • Track, analyze, and report on policy trends and emerging issues.
  • Ensure compliance with lobbying regulations, reporting requirements, and internal policies.
  • Manage the AEVEX PAC to include ensuring compliance with FEC rules and all applicable laws, managing the PAC strategy, facilitating the PAC board and steering committee meetings, coordinating employee engagement and fundraising campaigns, and overseeing reporting and record keeping.
  • Perform other duties as required.
