Our Tranquilo Golf Course is renowned among Orlando golf courses for its serene landscapes and challenging play. The Tom Fazio-designed 18-hole course is a par-71, with 6,738 yards and four sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels. The position of Director of Golf Course Maintenance will play a key role in the success of our resort/private membership at the club, as well as the employee experience for the Golf Course Maintenance team. This role centers on delivering strong operational results that support the club’s overall strategy and membership growth goals. Because golf environments change rapidly, the position demands creativity, quick problem‑solving, and timely decision‑making to ensure smooth daily operations. A key responsibility is maintaining consistently high course playability year‑round by coordinating closely with maintenance teams, anticipating seasonal challenges, and implementing proactive turf and grounds strategies that elevate the golfer experience. While the role requires independent action and a strong sense of urgency, it also demands a commitment to operational excellence, course quality, and delivering exceptional golf experiences that attract new members and increase member satisfaction. Additionally, this position will play a key role in long-term planning and execution, in regard to elevating the golfer's experience through renovation and re-grassing projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy
  • Must possess a valid State of Florida Pesticide Applicator License
  • Thorough understanding of business principles, financial accountability, agronomy practices
  • Seasoned experience in a private golf atmosphere
  • Proven effective planning and communication
  • Must have a TEAM mentality. The right candidate must have the willingness to grow and learn as well as having a desire to advance their career in the turf grass industry
  • Must be self-motivated, and leads by example
  • Have a strong attention to detail on and off the golf course
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems and efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure
  • A successful candidate will have a flexible schedule, ability to work weekends and holidays.
  • Must be fluent in English and possess legal work authorization in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • CGCS preferred
  • Two or four-year degree in Turfgrass Management or completion of Turf Management related certificate program preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years as a Golf Course Superintendent or Director of Golf Course or Equivalent

  • Supervises and participates in fertilizer and pesticide applications. Must know how to operate and calibrate fertilizer and pesticide equipment. Maintain application sheets and documents for inventory control
  • Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state, and federal regulations and is responsible for the safety and direction of chemical handlers and/or helpers
  • Manage both payroll and operating budgets
  • Work with Golf Operations staff to coordinate tournaments, golf maintenance programs, weather-related closures, and special requests
  • Hire, train, and supervise maintenance staff
  • Oversee the seeding, fertilizing, topdressing, soil conditioning, watering and pest and weed control of the golf course and practice facility
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, OSHA rules and regulations, relating to chemical and fertilizer storage and disposal, employee safety, public safety
  • This position will be directly involved with creating and adapting the daily work schedule on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
  • Aptitude for administrative and executive responsibilities including effective oral and written communication skills
