About The Position

The Director of Football Technology is a senior leadership role responsible for the comprehensive management of video operations, performance technology, and specialized infrastructure for the Football program. This position serves as the primary architect for the department’s digital strategy, overseeing the capture, organization, and distribution of high-level scouting and practice film. Beyond video, this role manages complex hardware ecosystems and large-scale facility technology within the Jones Hill House to ensure a seamless, tech-forward environment for coaches, student-athletes, and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in athletics, broadcasting, announcing, video production, or live production.
  • Three (3) years of experience supervising or managing professional staff.
  • Knowledge of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Big Ten Conference (BIG10) and collegiate athletics.
  • Knowledge of digital editing systems, a variety of video cameras and recording equipment.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
  • Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the filming and editing of all practices and games.
  • Organize and present opponent scouting and self-scout film in linear and non-linear formats using DVSport and Focus Live to support real-time coaching decisions.
  • Manage the Catapult System (100+ clients) and video servers.
  • Ensure all software, SQL servers, and operating systems are updated and optimized for elite performance tracking.
  • Serve as the technical lead for Jones Hill House, overseeing digital signage, network connectivity, and AV displays.
  • Coordinate with Campus and Athletics IT for asset management and software compliance.
  • Hire, train, and manage a professional and student videography crew.
  • Oversee the video and technology budget, including long-term forecasting for capital projects and hardware replacement cycles.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the Big Ten Conference regarding officials' video and review, and manage relationships with outside technology vendors.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contract negotiations for specialized technology and AV equipment

  • Direct the maintenance and curation of the program’s video library, ensuring all content is optimized for immediate coaching and scouting access.
  • Oversee facility-wide technology infrastructure within Jones Hill House, including network connectivity, digital signage, and advanced AV systems.
  • Lead the technical organization and distribution of scouting and performance data for coaching, recruiting, and strength & conditioning units.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of professional assistant directors, coordinators, and student videographers; other duties as assigned.
