About The Position

A long-established and financially strong Distributor/Wholesaler in the Northeast seeks a Sales Leader. This newly created role will build and oversee the sales & marketing depts for their new foodservice division. Our client is a respected industry player with impressive growth and infrastructure in place. While this company has been active in the foodservice and institutional business segments, they are creating a new division to specifically focus on that space. This role will work out of the company’s Connecticut office.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of the foodservice and institutional markets and accomplished sales and business development track record.
  • Proven sales management experience.
  • Established relationships and contacts in the Northeast and New England foodservice and institutional markets.
  • Customer service driven, with a track record of product development and solution-based sales approach.
  • knowledge of produce markets and supply chain dynamics.
  • Strong business acumen and negotiating skill set.
  • Thorough understanding of fresh fruit supply base, production, and operations.
  • College degree (B.A. /B.S.) in related fields of study preferred, or related experience.

Responsibilities

  • This person will build a sales arm for the company, providing support, feedback, and parameters for a team of reps to work within.
  • Lead a team to grow sales within existing accounts and will also further expand into new accounts.
  • Collaborate with Transportation Dept. to strategically develop certain routes and will also work with the procurement team on sourcing new products to meet the needs of existing and new accounts.
  • Proactively meet the changing needs of customers by directing research and development of new products.
  • Routine travel as needed for customer and industry functions.
