About The Position

The Director of Food Service is responsible for the strategic oversight, standardization, and performance of all food service operations across multiple convenience store locations. This role focuses on streamlining processes, improving consistency, controlling costs, ensuring food safety compliance, and driving profitability while maintaining a high-quality customer experience. The Director works closely with store managers, vendors, and executive leadership to develop scalable systems that support growth and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading multi-unit food service operations, convenience stores, QSR, or retail food environments
  • Strong understanding of food cost control, labor management, and margin optimization
  • Experience implementing standardized systems across multiple locations
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and health department compliance
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to travel regularly between locations
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement standardized food service programs, menus, recipes, and procedures across all locations
  • Create consistent operating standards for food preparation, presentation, pricing, portion control, and waste reduction
  • Evaluate current operations and identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve efficiency
  • Lead rollouts of new food programs, equipment, or concepts across multiple stores
  • Oversee daily food service performance across all locations, ensuring consistency and execution
  • Establish and track KPIs including food cost %, labor %, shrink/waste, sales mix, and margins
  • Analyze sales and cost data to improve profitability and operational performance
  • Partner with store leadership to correct underperformance and drive continuous improvement
  • Manage vendor relationships, purchasing programs, and pricing negotiations
  • Standardize ordering processes and inventory controls across locations
  • Ensure consistent product quality and availability while minimizing spoilage and over-ordering
  • Evaluate new vendors and products aligned with operational and financial goals
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, health department, and regulatory requirements
  • Develop and enforce food safety protocols, sanitation standards, and audit processes
  • Lead corrective actions related to inspections, safety violations, or quality issues
  • Train and reinforce best practices for food handling and sanitation
  • Develop training programs for food service managers and store teams
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance feedback to multi-unit food service leadership
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and succession planning for food service roles
  • Foster accountability, consistency, and a culture of quality across all locations
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and performance reports related to food service operations
  • Collaborate with finance and operations teams on cost controls and margin improvement
  • Support capital planning for kitchen equipment, remodels, and food service upgrades
