About The Position

The Director of Fitness (DF) is a key member of the Center’s leadership team that fulfills an essential role in the overall success of a company that is uniquely positioned and passionately committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the members and communities we serve. The duties of the DF will include the development, management, and overall leadership of the Fitness and Wellness Department Team. This includes the Personal Training Manager, Fitness Manager, Personal Trainers, and Fitness Attendants. The DF, along with the leadership team, is tasked with the overall success and operational effectiveness of LNPC. The DF will specifically oversee the policies, procedures, and experience on the second and third fitness floors. This will include an integration with the Director of Recreation for court involvement and the Director of Sports Performance for EDGE staff and program integration. This will also include a crucial leadership role with the Member Experience team that includes member sales and services. The DF is also responsible for the development and sustainability of the personal training department. This includes the operations of the assessment process and lead generation and sales of personal training to members and community. Specifically, the DF will be responsible for matters including strategic planning, budgetary and financial management, quality assurance, staff management and development, clinical integration, and programming development related to fitness and personal training departments directly reporting to them. In addition, it is paramount this position exhibits excellent leadership, effective communication, and exemplary customer service-related skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in exercise science or related field (exercise physiology, athletic training, public health).
  • Minimum of two years of strong, progressive management experience in a fitness and wellness facility, preferably a Medical Fitness and Wellness Center.
  • Minimum of two years managing sound personal training practices including lead generation, general assessment, and sales tracking.
  • Highly advanced communication and other interpersonal skills.
  • No written disciplinary action within the last 12 months
  • Pass Background Check
  • Eligible to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Oversight and management in developing and administering a comprehensive and individualized approach to whole-person health and the associated service offering designed to achieve an optimal state of wellbeing.
  • Oversight and management with personal training and wellness related programming.
  • Oversight and management with fitness equipment, member experiences, and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for the direction and execution related to the performance of the Annual Strategic Plan and Operational Budget for fitness and personal training departments.
  • Formulates facility statistical (KPI) and financial reports that are reliable and accurate in the specified departments.
  • Provides monthly reporting to the Executive Director as requested specific to programming and ancillary service lines. Additional reporting as requested.
  • Institute all related department policies and procedures to ensure all operations and practices of the fitness and wellness departments satisfy those policies and procedures with specific attention to Emergency Response Planning, quality assurance, HIPAA confidentiality, credentialing compliance, and member onboarding and assessing.
  • Assist with Human Resource related tasks including new hire packages, benefit enrollment, termination/resignation submission and labor law compliance for direct reports.
  • Direct the development and implementation efforts related to services, programming and associated ancillary revenues.
  • Demonstrates competency in managing and administering client scheduling, client contacts, member tracking software, payroll/scheduling system and managing the My Wellness Cloud Portal (or similar).
  • Develop and implement logistical workflows needed to achieve an effective and efficient operation related to daily business activity.
  • Contribute to achieving a consistently excellent member experience resulting in high member satisfaction ratings and low member attrition.
  • Oversight of Fitness and Wellness Team direct reports related to Key Performance Indicators, budgeting, programming, and customer service practices.
  • Responsible for the recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and performance of the Fitness and Wellness Team direct reports as well as overseeing the work activities of center’s entire staff.
  • Effectively conduct monthly department meetings.
  • Administer employee feedback sessions and annual performance reviews as well as instituting performance improvement plans when needed.
  • Address all member and staff concerns as well as any other issues that directly affect the membership, staff, facility, and/or programs by providing a prompt and customer- friendly response.
  • Demonstrate the ability to initiate and manage crucial conversations with conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Competent with the daily operation of the club management software.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be acutely aware of the factors that contribute to a consistently excellent member experience.
  • Assure quality standards are being met by conducting daily facility rounding including, but not limited to, cleanliness, equipment function, staffing responsibility coverage, etc.
  • Committed to providing the highest service standard possible by maintaining current certifications, attending continuing education seminars, and reviewing industry literature.
  • Achieve Organizational Alignment by demonstrating effective leadership and teambuilding skills resulting in a cohesive unit striving toward a comment goal.
  • Proficient with conducting presentations and seminars on various topics related to the business development and strategic positioning of the Center.
  • Direct daily center operations and provide leadership for the center in the absence of the Executive Director/General Manager.
  • Consistently meets and/or exceeds the Center’s performance objectives and Key Performance Indicators as outlined in the Annual Strategic Plan.
  • Demonstrates the desire to continually improve areas of the business by identifying an area for improvement, devising a solution, then implementing a plan.
