About The Position

The Director of Finance is responsible for the administrative functions of the company, including the overall health of finance, human resources, and information systems. This role must recognize the difference between strategy, oversight, and execution, and know when each is appropriate. As a member of the leadership team, this role contributes to overall business strategies and results. Roles include leadership, management, and accountability; strategic planning; financial management; people operations; and information systems.

Requirements

  • Verify status as a U.S. Person, as defined by 22 C.F.R. Chapter I, Subchapter M, § 120.15. This position will have access to technology and/or information that is export-controlled by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and a minimum of 10 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of educations and experience.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g. macros, pivot tables, queries).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate ideas, summarize complex issues, and present to audiences.
  • Ability and willingness to track, analyze, and report performance.
  • Strong analytical & diagnostic skills. Utilizes data analytics to drive decision-making.
  • Displays passion and optimism. Skilled in facilitating teamwork and cultivating buy-in from others.
  • Exercises a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism to accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to think strategically and translate concepts into actionable items.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is preferred.
  • Experience implementing and performing cost accounting in an ERP software is preferred.

  • Oversee accounting systems, internal controls, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepare or direct the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, cost rate updates, and fixed asset records.
  • Analyze actual performance versus budget and forecast. Recommend corrective actions.
  • Evaluate customer credit risk and approve credit terms.
  • Develop and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts. Advise leadership on cash position.
  • Assist company management in securing financing and maintaining banking relationships.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting, costing accuracy, and decision-support tools.
  • Oversee purchasing processes including pricing strategy, approval controls, and cost discipline.
  • Establish procurement policies that balance cost, quality, lead time, and cash flow objectives.
  • Execute day-to-day human resource administration until staffing levels justify delegation.
  • Maintain and optimize the Human Resource Information System (HRIS).
  • Administer payroll in coordination with the outside payroll provider.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Design, implement, and manage compensation, benefit, and performance review programs.
  • Maintain the Employee Handbook and communicate policy updates.
  • Lead recruiting activities including job descriptions, sourcing, interviewing, offers, and onboarding.
  • Serve as the escalation point for employee relations and disciplinary matters.
  • Establish retention, engagement, and training strategies that support growth.
  • Supervise front-office and administrative operations.
  • Provide executive oversight of all company information systems and technology infrastructure.
  • Direct the prioritization of technology initiatives and major system projects.
  • Ensure compliance with ITAR, NIST 800-171, CMMC, and related cybersecurity requirements.
  • Review and approve System Security Plans (SSPs) and Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms).
  • Evaluate technology investments and approve budgets based on business value and risk.
  • Ensure ERP, CAD, and core business applications are reliable, secure, and integrated.
  • Oversee business continuity planning for information systems.
  • Maintain executive relationships with key technology vendors and service providers.
  • Promote a culture of cybersecurity awareness and continuous improvement.
