The Maryland Department of Labor (MD Labor), Occupational and Professional Licensing,�is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Fiscal Services Administrator I.�This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies. This position is Management Service and serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority The main purpose of the job is to direct and coordinate the fiscal activities, including accounting, budgeting, and auditing, for the division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (O&P) and its 25 regulatory programs. This role assists in developing, planning, and managing an indirect cost allocation plan for the Division while providing guidance to the Office of the Commissioner on all budgetary items. It also supervises finance employees with the division.

  • Coordinates and directs the daily administrative, fiscal, procurement, and auditing functions of the fiscal unit, to include budget and fiscal management, special fund analysis, revenue and expenditures projections.
  • Leads budget initiatives on behalf of the Commissioner's Office. Interacts with Office of Administration and the Secretary's Office regarding budget development and amendments.
  • Directs the preparation of the division's 24 individuals budgets and is the approving official within the division for all purchases and expenditures during the fiscal year.
  • Monitors monthly expenditures activity for accuracy regarding types of expenditure and funding sources. Prepares financial management projections, encumbrances, and other relevant factors.
  • Reviews legislative audit reports and reports by outside auditors, develops audit responses, and implements corrective action plans.
  • Additional duties assigned by the Office of the Commissioner
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five years of experience in preparing or overseeing budget, directing and coordinating fiscal activities, reviewing and responding to legislative audit reports by outside auditors and Managing employees.
  • Experience directly supervising
  • Experience managing a government program or other organizational program
  • Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating policies, plans program, including accounting and budget
  • Experience auditing
