About The Position

San Luis Valley Health is seeking a dynamic Director of Finance to lead the organization’s financial operations. This role oversees all fiscal functions of the corporation, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, state licensure requirements, banking standards, and industry best practices. Strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of financial management within the healthcare sector are essential. The Director of Finance will play a key role in shaping strategic initiatives for San Luis Valley Health and its affiliates, supporting long‑term growth and market success. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and provides leadership and supervision to the finance, accounting, and audit teams. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, CPA preferred
  • 3 years’ experience supervising a finance department.
  • Five years’ experience supervising employees
  • Must have a proficient knowledge of the following areas: GAAP, computerized accounting, CMS cost reports, accounts payable, auditing, IRS reporting, payroll and all other healthcare related accounting situations.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Maintain confidentiality

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial advice and guidance to the CFO and other Senior team members
  • Participate in strategic financial planning
  • Uses resources to develop strategic plans and the analysis to forecast the future of the organization
  • Develops strategies to help the progression of the corporation in its mission through the values identified
  • Identify, investigate, and analyze potential operational improvements
  • Research, prepare and submit the annual budget
  • Prepare the annual cost reports to Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Coordinate an annual audit by an independent firm.
  • Provide controllership functions in order to ensure finances are managed according to legislation, policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all agencies related to financial matter
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Conduct financial analysis and prepare detailed financial reports and statements.
